Being set in your ways isn't the end of it all. Werewolves are canine, so maybe you could be retrained in your ways? Anybody know if there are Werewolf Whisperers out there? If Scooby Snacks work for doggies would Wolfie Snack treats help?

I think the guilt of the savage violence of a werewolf after reverting to human would be too much. Even in less violent eras of fiction, werewolves either embrace their curse, or lament it, like Talbot. And depending on the fiction werewolves can either be conscious of their activities as the wolf or not. But even when not, they still know the savagery of their actions through word of mouth. I certainly don't think I could embrace hunting down and killing humans. And would probably spend all of time as a human trying to drink those images and memories away, unable to stop the curse.
Whereas vampires aren't inherently evil, and there is plenty of fiction of vampires avoiding being killers to satiate their curse. While both can be given the curse without a person's consent, werewolves always seem to be portrayed as savage killers. (Though I cannot remember in the Underworld series what was the "sustenance" of the werewolves other than what is needed as a human.) So I guess if I were to be unwilling turned into either one, I would choose vampire, to avoid becoming a killer. Being that I am not vegetarian as a human, animal blood would not bother me anymore than animal meat.

Vampire for sure. I'm a night owl, I adjusted nicely into the whole "third Shift" thing. Plus, I burn easily. Besides, I'm gonna invent Vampire Sunscreen. Or get someone to. If I'm not the only vampire, you know someone is gonna invest in protection. Especially if we're not bad. Somebody will help! And, wear protective clothing, I think I could rock the goth look. I did in middle school!
One last thing, if I were a vampire...I'd become a vigilante. Stalking the night for criminals.

Neither. I dispense eternal damnation but don't want to earn it myself.

Has a werewolf ever been bitten by a vampire? It must have happened in some story. Best of both worlds?

Bitewise, I've never seen a werewolf put any thought into what it's doing - it just goes straight to turning you into a bloody mess right out of the gates and stopping only when it can't figure out where you've disappeared to (hint: that pile of pulp didn't just magically appear on its own). So even presuming that I would survive such an attack, it's like asking me if I would enjoy diving into a meat grinder if I knew for a fact that I'd survive the experience. You don't even have to tell me what option number two is - option number two is my choice.
Some other considerations:
1. Vampires should be able to turn into wolves - bats, mist, and wolves. So if I really, really wanted to become a wolf and was willing to put up with the flesh gorging, rending initiation process for that privilege, then I'd feel like an idiot if someone later said to me "You know, I know a guy who could have just bitten you on the neck for three seconds and you could've become a wolf that way. You really didn't have to go into this marsh and be ripped apart like you did". OK, so that's a wolf and not a werewolf - but other than being able to walk on two legs, what's the difference? A vampire wolf is still in control right? A werewolf wolf isn't - in fact, werewolves generally go after those they love. Do I need to put my conscience through that every full moon? Especially when I have to work in the morning?
Hey you know what? Anyone ever watch The Wolf Man and wonder why the werewolf which bit Lawrence Talbot was the four legged variety while Talbot himself became a two legged man shaped one? Maybe Bela the Gypsy was a vampire wolf - he was played after all by... yes, you guessed it, Bela Lugosi.
2. Vampires don't age yes, but would I appreciate that fact if I can't see my reflection? I don't know, but it seems like being a vampire would bring about changes I'd both fear and be excited by. Sometimes I think about how set in my ways I've become - that my future only holds repetition in the cards and that I'll never experience something that feels fresh and new like I did when I was a kid. Not being able to see my reflection, being up and about during the hours of the night I've slept through until now - it's sort of like waking up and finding out you speak another language or that you're now left handed - it's like a second chance at life or an opportunity to become the you of a parallel universe.
3. I need discipline in my life. Having to keep track of where I've hidden my coffin every night and getting back to it before sunrise will instill that structure in my life. Being a werewolf is tantamount to just getting really, really wasted every full moon and leads to a "why the hell should I look after myself if I'm only going to turn into a berserk, ramping monster every couple of nights" attitude. Werewolves also generally kill people willy-nilly, vampires have to make tough choices about who gets to live and who gets to die and isn't that what being a responsible adult is all about?
4. OK, I can't go out in the sun - that is a big problem. BUT I'm not convinced that I have to spend that time sleeping. I've never been clear on this - I've seen vampires frantically try to get back to their coffins as the sun encroaches upon the horizon, but I've never been sure if they need to simply get away from sunlight, or if they have to actually be asleep (or in their coffin lined with dirt from their grave) to avoid turning to dust. What if I can't fall asleep right away? Does anyone know?

Has a werewolf ever been bitten by a vampire? It must have happened in some story. Best of both worlds? Yes. In numerous pre-code comics, the vampire got the better of a werewolf and vice-versa. The result for the victim was invariably defeat. Since these were anthology stories, the long-term effects of such cross-pollination were not explored.

I should have re-phrased the question as that situation not being merely the ending of the story but rather the story itself. What was the long term effects of a vampire being bitten by a werewolf or vice versa. I can't believe that has never been the basis of a full story. And if not, I claim the rights to author it myself.

Only thing I can think of is the Underworld movies in which one of the protagonist is bitten initially by a werewolf but once mortally wounded a bit from a vampire saves him and he becomes a hybrid of both

The whole "normal human except one night a month" thing is appealing, but since you have to be bitten by one to turn into one, I am going to go with vampire because I imagine if we're talking classic vampire, it'll be way more gentle than a werewolf, which I assume is going to rip me to shreds, or, at the very least, take a huge chunk out of me. And I'm thinking that is going to be a more painful experience. And turning into a werewolf may only happen once a month, but that has got to be torture, morphing into werewolf form?
Look, I am for as pain-free as possible.

I'm really a night person anyway, so vampire every time. Only trouble is, I quite like to drink...wine.
