I have never, ever seen this version of the Trapster in my life ... and it's so odd indeed!

I have never, ever seen this version of the Trapster in my life ... and it's so odd indeed! It was a costume he got in the mid 1980s, and kept for several years.

His sidekick the Hot Glue Kid deserves a mini for sure.

I always much preferred Sandman's original stripey shirt and brown slacks look to his later, more superhero-y look... My only problem with it was that he basically seemed to live in the same shirt and slacks at all times. I wouldn't have wanted to be sharing the Frightful Four's hideout with him, I just hope the Wizard's inventive talents extended to creating really strong deodorant. The guy was made of sand. Sand doesn't sweat.

tingramretroI did not read much comics in the 80's ... I was in college and starting out my career then. I resume reading comics in the early 90's. And, therefore I wasn't aware of this version of the Trapster at all.

His sidekick the Hot Glue Kid deserves a mini for sure. The DC Silver Age version is Purple Gorilla Glue.

The Beetle's change from his original clunky looking outfit was a great improvement. Still confused over the purple and green coloring?
Iron Man foe Blizzard's change from Jack Frost was an improvement. The blue suit with white piping and icicle styling was nice looking.
As odd as his original costume might look if worn in reality: Electro's green and yellow suit was the best overall. Haven't seen anything since which remotely looks interesting.
Does Fin Fang Foom changing color's count? If so he is just more awesome in green than orange.

This remains one of the most striking villain designs (love Taskmaster) Wasn't too keen on the remodel:

OK, so you've invented a new villain, a master assassin, and you've decided to call him Boomerang. What could be more natural than giving him a costume covered with...throwing discs...that in no way resemble boomerangs... Luckily, a later artist saw the logical flaw and corrected it...

^^ Yeah, Boomerang's original costume was hideous. The redesign was definitely better, but still not amazing.

I also love the Taskmaster's look. The redesign I have never seen but it is missing the orange and to me, that bit of colour made the costume. This newer look is just a Skeletor ripoff. Actually, the original image you posted kinda sucks too. His face looks off and the way he is holding that arrow makes me confused... Here his first cover app is the best IMO.

This is one of those cases where Stan Lee's "Marvel Method" shows its weaknesses. I'd bet that Jack Kirby didn't intend for this villain to be called "Boomerang" when he plotted and laid out the story for Bill Everett. My guess is that Stan didn't like whatever Jack came up with, and decided he'd be "Boomerang" instead, and instructed Everett to plaster a big stupid "B" on the front of his costume on the finished inks.

You think Kirby was aiming for 'Discmaster' o 'Doctor Disc'? Actually, I think-going by the dialogue-the big 'B' was already there and he was meant to be 'Baron Blouse'.

I think the above image of Boomerang is a redesign by John Buscema. His original look by Kirby and Everett had the throwing discs on the sleeves of his big girl's blouse.
