Written by Jason Aaron. Art and Cover by Olivier Coipel.
Thor Odinson is out in space fighting aliens & losing. Why? Flashback to 3 months ago where he is fighting trolls on the moon when a being calling itself the Unseen appears. It tells him there is another hammer out there...back in Asgard. Back to the present...when Thor arrives he finds Old Asgard gone & Beta Ray Bill there. BRB is investigating Asgard's disappearance. He offers Thor his hammer...
Story: I have no idea why Odinson is longer Thor & his left arm has been replaced with an artificial arm. I do know Jane Foster is the new Thor but I have not followed that storyline. It baffles me that Marvel has their successful Avengers movies & yet if someone goes into a LCS they find the characters have been replaced by Sam, Jane, Riri & Amadeus? This is a way to get new readers? Or keep long time readers? Sorry end of rant.
Back to this comic. I am a little confused but overall it really doesn't matter. Aaron launches right into this story of Odinson getting a hammer again & propels us forward. There is a lot of action & a small reveal & further questions.
Art: It is fantastic. I LOVED Coipel's run with JMS on Thor. His style is perfect for Thor.
I think I will like this 5 issue miniseries. I definitely will like it if it leads to an ongoing title starring Thor Odinson with a hammer & the answer to why he lost his worthiness revealed.
Score: 8/10. (3 for story/5 for art). Only Marvel title I bought this week.

Written by Tim Seeley. Art and Cover by Javi Fernandez. The conclusion of the Raptor story. In the last issue Raptor had kidnapped Bruce Wayne & will kill him but Dick rescues him. It is revealed Raptor knew Dick's Mom before she married. He was also in the circus watching Dick grow up. He hates Bruce because he feels he should have stopped Mary's death & Bruce took Dick away from the life he knew. Story: OK. Nice twist at the end but Raptor's obsession is a bit over the top. I guess in comics it's normal. Hey Bruce's parents die & he dressed like a bat? Art: really nice job. Score: 7/10. I am happy the Raptor arc is done. Next: Superman. & then Nightwing returns to Bludhaven!

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Brad Walker and Andrew Hennessy. This issue is all Mera! The Oracle of Atlantis foresees a disaster called the Deluge happening because of the Fatal Queen. The Widowhood think the queen seen in the vision is Mera & refuse to approve of her marriage to Aquaman. Mera leaves & goes back to Amnesty Bay to think. While there she has lunch with Joanna Stubbs (from the first arc). They are attacked by NEMO. After the agent of NEMO gets away when Mera repels his attack Joanna reveals Arthur is critically hurt. Mera realizes the vision of the Deluge may be coming true... Story: Another great job by Abnett. He tells a great solo Mera tale while setting up the next arc called the Deluge. I love the character of Mera & Abnett writes her as a worthy hero by herself. Art: I didn't like Brad & Andrew's art at first because it was sketchy but they now they have a more polished look that I like. Score: 8/10. Tied with Thor for my second favorite issue this week.

More on Aquaman #10: I really think Mera has risen in stature in the DCU. Man I would love it if DC would do an Adventure Comics mini series with Mera teaming up with other DCU heroes like Wonder Woman, Supergirl, etc to see if she would sell w/o Aquaman.

Midnighter and Apollo #2 Written by Steve Orlando Art by Fernando Blanco Colours by Romulo Fajardo Jr. What went before: Midnighter has tracked down the man responsible for his creation, Henry Bendix, but Bendix has a backup plan: the demon Mawzir is attacking Apollo and his invulnerability won't help him against the demon's magic. Summary: Midnighter tries to save Apollo, but fails, cradling Apollo's lifeless body. He visits the sorceror formerly known as Extraño to help find Apollo. Meanwhile Apollo's soul is in hell and attempts to escape. Plot: I liked the first issue, but was not too impressed by it, but I'm enjoying the second one a lot more. I really like that Midnighter does away with the usual villain plot "You can kill me or saved your loved one", by showing that he really doesn't need more than a split second to retaliate against his opponent before going off to save his loved one. Bendix will probably survive, the wound wasn't instantly lethal, but maybe this villain will learn not to play around with his opponents. I like how this Extraño is not a charicature as the original seemed to be and his friendship with Midnighter, Midnighter's dedication and optimism in saving Apollo and the depiction of Hell. This Hell offers rewards in return for sacrifice, while punishes comfort and happiness. Art: Like last time, Blanco is a good artist who does fine work here. He gets more opportunities this time to let loose this time and the comic is better for it. Grade: 8/10

Moon Knight #8 Written by Jeff Lemire Art by Francesco Francavilla (Lockley), Wilfredo Torres (Grant), James Stokoe (Spector) and Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight) Colours by Francavilla, Stokie, Jordie Bellaire and Michael Garland What went before: To escape possession by an Egyptian God, Moon Knight has shattered his persona. Now his various personas walk their own worlds, but the borders are blurring. Summary: Lockley is arrested for the deaths of Gena and her children, but is identified by the police officers as Mark Spector and Moon Knight's hood is found in his possession. Meanwhile Marc Spector has been bitten by space werewolves and can turn into one of them at any moment. Are the Lockley's scenes just scenes in Grant's movie and is Spector's adventure in space just a movie being filmed in the neighbouring studio? Plot: The lines are blurring even more than last issue and the final page shows that this story arc is nearing its end. There is a story here as we get a definite sense that things are moving into a single direction and the storylines are converging. Again not a series to read in singles, this is a longer story that fits together. Though this is a long story, I love Lemire's pacing: things are moving forward and within 8 issues a lot has happened. Art: The whole team is here again and things are switching even more rapidly than last time, we have pages where Francavilla, Stokoe and Torres are all three present and even Smallwood shows up again. We've had comics where there is switching between different artstyles and artists (Alias comes to mind for instance where Gaydos and Bagley did issues together), but I'm having a hard time thinking of any comic where there is this much switching between artists for specific plot purposes. Grade: 9/10

I researched it. Ultimate Thor died fighting his way into Doom's castle during the recent Secret Wars series. His hammer fell into the classic MU.

He kind of looks like Ultimate Thor so it would be a neat way to blend the two. Weird that the original Ultimate Thor died like that, I think the last I remembered him was during the Galactus event in the Ultimate U where he got stuck in the negative zone.

When the Earth-616 version of Galactus attacks the Ultimate Earth, Thor is among those to challenge the entity. During the final battle, Thor sacrifices himself in order to drive Galactus into the Negative Zone, trapping them both.
After the destruction of both the Earth-616 and Ultimate universes, Thor is among those rescued by God Doom and transported to Battleworld. Ultimate Thor and the other members of the Thor Corps storm Doom's castle, where they are all killed.
After his death, Ultimate Thor's hammer is shown to have landed on the Earth-616 version of Asgard.

That whole event sounded weird to me, though I did like the idea of a Thor Corps. I'll probably pick this up at lunch today. I also may give nightwing another shot since the raptor story is finally over.

Score: 8/10. (3 for story/5 for art). Only Marvel title I bought this week. I read the first nine issues of Aaron's "God Butcher" story-line and was surprised by how much I disliked it. Like many modern Marvel books, I adored the art, but the villain and his motivations, not to mention the seeming disregard for established continuity (Elder gods, etc), took me out of the story. What was with that city of gods that came out of nowhere? I get that it was an attempt to introduce something new, but that was just too much too fast and seemed out of place. The writing was very generic with none of the charming pomp of old Thor dialog, which I also disliked. It made no sense to me that the godly weapon Gorr found would make him powerful enough to seemingly take out Odin and Zeus level deities with ease. Absurd story bolstered by fantastic art by Ribic.

I haven't read any Thor since 2010. I only picked this up because of Coipel's art. However if Thor Odinson is "redeemed" in this series I will probably continue with Thor if this becomes an ongoing.
