Does this mean they have stopped the Chronicles format? I had quite liked those. There hasn't been a new Chronicles book announced since JLofA Vol. 1 2 years ago and hat was never actually released, so I'd guess the Chronicles are dead, but there has never been a formal announcement. -M That's too bad. My favorite format yet for releasing old stuff. I prefer smaller softcovers to large hardcovers.

Is there a rundown somewhere of this different formats/collections of DC Silver age reprints in book form? Not sure it's still comprehensive, but this site is a good start: collectededitions.com/storefront.html

Does this mean they have stopped the Chronicles format? I had quite liked those. OK, I'm lost. Is there a rundown somewhere of this different formats/collections of DC Silver age reprints in book form? Let's see, it's almost as bad as MArvel with multiple formats... The first were the Archives Editions used for both Golden Age and Silver Age material. Everything from Flash, GL, JLA, Legion, Doom Patrol, etc. got the Archives treatment form the Silver Age, but the Trinity only got Golden Age volumes. Then cam the early Chronicles books, again starting in the Golden Age with the Trinity, but Flash and GL got Silver Age volumes (there were Aquaman volumes too, but I am not sure if they went GA or Silver Age with him). Then there were the black and white Showcase Presents volumes that started with Silver Age material (well some Atomic Age if you count the 50s DC hero stuff as non-Silver Age), eventually moving into Bronze Age and even 80s material. None of these formats have had new volumes in some time. There have been random volumes of certain material as trades or hardcovers form the Silver Age that are not part of any series, but there are few and far between. In the past few years, DC has started the Omnibus editions of Golden Age and Silver Age material. Bats and Supes got GA volumes, each of which covered the same issues as the first 3 Chronicle volumes for those characters and Flash and GL got Silver Age omnibus that collected the first 3 Chronicles material as well. The JLA got an omnibus too I believe but had no released Chronicle volumes-as I said those were announced but cancelled)These omnibi were the first to feature Darywn Cooke covers. Now we have the series of volumes in the OP, which each seem to contain 1/3 of the respective omnibi or thew equivalent of one of the Chronicle format's volumes, but the range of titles is wider than those released in the Chronicle format. And that's ignoring such things as the Superman/Batman/Shazam 30s/40's to 70s books, the Greatest (fill in character) Stories Ever Told, and other anthology type volumes DC has done collecting Goden and Silver Age stories of different characters. I think that touches on all the reprint formats DC has done for Silver Age stuff, but it's possible I missed some. -M

This thread prompted me to go ahead and order the Teen Titans silver age omnibus today--and with Amazon Prime, it's arriving today as well! A reviewer on Amazon stated the book includes the silver age Hawk and Dove complete series with their debut in Showcase. Looking forward to reading those adventures as well as revisiting Teen Titans 1-24 with their Showcase and Brave and Bold appearances.

Does Amazon Prime save you money, percentage off on books? Also, since I buy all of my books from instocktrades, wondering if the actual book is cheaper? instocktrades has the book listed at 42% off cover price at $57.99 + free shipping. I always recommend instocktrades to people because they discount their books way below cover price and they ship in very sturdy/extremely well packed boxes, books always arrive with no damage. www.instocktrades.com/TP/DC/TEEN-TITANS-THE-SILVER-AGE-OMNIBUS-HC-VOL-01/JUN160360

You do have to pay to receive the benefit, but if you order lot of stuff from Amazon, you really save on shipping. It doesn't apply to all items, but it is very rare I run across something I have to pay shipping on. With tax, I paid $67 for the book. It also gives you access to the TV shows produced by Amazon and access to rent movies or tv shows from Amazon through your smart tv or blu ray player. If you are a student and use your student email address, you might pay less for Amazon Prime. Instocktrades sounds like a good deal as well!

Anyone excited about them? So far there are 5 of them available with more on the way. My collection so far... I plan on getting them all as they come out. I like the covers/spines & interior paper quality, not that overly glossy paper like the Omnibus editions have. I'm getting all five of these and I should have them in my hands in a week! I arranged it via US Mail.

From what I understand, each trade collects the same material from the Omnibus, each trade=half of the Omnibus (?)

From what I understand, each trade collects the same material from the Omnibus, each trade=half of the Omnibus (?) More like 1/3 of the omnibus. The Golden Age Superman Omnibus had the same content collected in Volumes 1-3 of the Chronicles. The first Superman Golden Age volume in this series has the same content as Vol. 1 of the Chronicles as far as I can tell, so each volume is roughly 1/3 of an omnibus, but it could just be that the GA material were not full issues as Action and Detective were anthologies, so they might be different than the Silver Age volumes. -M

Not really sure. It will take a bit longer for the trades to catch up to the bulk contained within the Omnibus books.

I picked up the Batman and Superman trades at my local shop's Black Friday sale yesterday. Wow. These things are a great package. The production quality is top notch, especially compared to other reprints of the same material. My only complaint is the same one I had about the Chronicles volumes: No love for Golden Age Flash or Green Lantern.

The first Amazon giftcard of the season rolled in this weekend, so I used it to order a couple more of these...
I ordered Vol. 1 of the Silver Age Flash and Silver Age Green Lantern, and pre-ordered Vol. 2 of the Silver Age JLA which comes out next week. I was eyeing the Golden Age Wonder Woman Omnibus (I have the first Batman one) but decided to wait until the trades for it come out instead.

I loved those 5 books that @bry914 mentioned and they are very nicely put together and I'm planning on getting the rest of them when they do come out and arrange my LCS to handle that via mail. I just couldn't put them down when reading them.
