No matter how big at least a snake either constricts you or poisons you. Unlike the fictional giant anaconda of 1997's Anaconda, they do not consume their prey alive. Which cannot be said for spiders. So let's keep giant spiders in fantasy fiction where they belong. Except that's exactly what the titanoboa did. If was a surprise predator based on all evidence, that would surprise it's prey, swallow it whole and crush it inside it's digestive tract from tightening its muscles (a type of constriction). As snakes got smaller, they adapted constricting prey in its coils or developing venom to weaken prey. Just because it's that way now, doesn't mean it wasn't different in the past. We have no flying reptiles now, but there were in the past for example. So yes, there were giant snakes that consumed their prey whole, it's not movie fantasy but evidence based extrapolation. -M The anaconda in Anaconda wasn't a prehistoric snake. He was just a overly exaggerated large snake that the movie said that about anacondas in general to make their movie more shocking. Just like the overly aggressive cross bred spiders of Arachnophobia. Prehistoric Earth's life was definitely more scary af than it is now though, yeah.

I posted this in the art section but figured I'd repost it here. I finally got around to drawing something I was content with for the first time since getting home from the hospital in February. Unfortunate my drawing hand is still partially numb but I am seeing a physical therapist for it and I draw for about two hours three days a week. So whether or not I gain full sensation back I still feel like I can work towards taking commissions and eventually working in illustrator again. This was drawn from looking at two separate photos that appeared in different issues of National Geographic. Unfortunately my scanner isn't working so I had to take a quick photo apologies for the quality. classiccomics.org/post/264025/thread

I ran a half marathon this morning! I finished in a little over 2 hours 17 minutes. The only races I had previously run were 5K races, although I do run longer (non-race) distances with a running club I'm a member of. I usually run about 7 miles with the club. Running 13.1 miles (the half marathon distance) was pretty tough. I ran the whole distance, because I had a personal goal not to walk at all. But towards the end, my running pace was very slow. Wow well done ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) I used to be able to walk far i miss that sometimes ........

Most impressive. It would darn near kill me to walk 13.1 miles, much less run it. I get winded just driving that far. lol

Dante never mentioned it, but there must be a special circle of Hell for the people who talk $#@ about competitive martial artists on Youtube. Anyone who makes it to a world championship held on the othe side of the planet is worthy of respect, even if they get beaten by someone even better. The worst is those idiot's that say oh Bruce Lee was just a actor we don't know how good he is,... uhh the guy had 7 black belts his own style he created as well, and taught quite a few celebs Karate also had his own school etc annoys the hell out of me .

Every time something goes right in my life; "I'm mooovin on up, to the East side".
And for some reason this always pops in my head to hum.

I find myself humming or whistling the Star Trek TOS and Next Generation themes or hear them in my head as I wander around the hospital working. Also themes for Doctor Who, Space 1999, Conan the Barbarian, James Bond, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, Pinky and the Brain, Superman the movie, The Magnificent Seven and others. Classic TV themes especially jump from out of nowhere and I can't shake them for days sometimes...

The Magnificent Seven is a awesome theme. I heard it and Lone Ranger (even though as a kid I actually thought it was the Lone Ranger theme) long before I saw either movies, since my folks had them on vinyl.
