Procrastination was strong, this year, but I guess I’ll do our taxes today... uuuurgh... you do know that at least Federal Taxes were pushed out, so you have a couple of extra months to file.
tho yeah, if you have time, get it done. (we did ours in late March just to have it done).
I think both the federal and provincial due dates were pushed out here too, but like you I want to have it done as early as possible! (...until procrastination rears its ugly head, that is! )

Money was in my bank account within 17 days. Had we owed money, I would have waited to submit until April 15 (now July 15).

Yeah, I used to do mine, but when we moved states and bought a house in the same year (into a state with a state income tax no less from one that didn't) I decided it was time to just hand it over to a pro to ensure nothing slipped through the cracks. Also, I liked the idea of someone who knows the laws and details doing it along with the continuity and history. I am also really lazy about it and hate doing it.

My Mom wanted McDonald's today but I talked her out of it... sorry Ronald and pals. I think it's still a risk for two people in their late '70s, even with the drive-through only. So I have to make dins as she was mostly just not wanting to cook I think. How do other's feel about take-out food generally? I feel a bit better about KFC or fish & chips somehow, deep frying seems less likely somehow to carry anything and one comes dumped in a bucket and the other in plain paper and newspaper. McDonald's has all these individual little containers for each thing. I'm over-thinking things probably. They extended the tax-filing deadline, but we are getting to that real soon now also. I might qualify for some stuff I haven't had before this time, if it's still there to be gotten after paying in all my life, so it might be more complicated in new ways and I'm apprehensive. I did badly the last two filings before this but now I'm in a different classification entirely not working. Also have to look at how it might effect future crossing of the U.S. border where anyone on assistance is seen as some sort of threat now. I once had a Alaska governor (R) offering to write a letter of some kind over a decade ago when I had an issue of having had more than my six months there, but declined... maybe that could've been useful to me now? I was desperately needed then though, yet new restrictions prevented me from opening a bank account there to help a U.S. citizen pay their bills! My desire to stay Canadian has cost me in unexpected ways, and yet at the same time I am assumed to be trying to become a U.S. citizen in some duplicitous sense? Sniffer dogs also started appearing at every small port along the marine highway... if I had a time machine, other than saving a couple of lives close to me (while not changing my present) I'd also protect the WTC towers; so much changed for the worse in my opinion starting there.

I am also really lazy about it and hate doing it. This is me. I dread doing it evey January...and being a self-employed one man band (if you'll excuse the pun) means that my tax return is about as easy as it gets. But it's still the most tedious part of working for myself.

I typed up a big response, but the server "ate" it when I submitted, and it just looked funky.
so editing with the suggestion to try Chili's if you have one near you. They offer "interaction free" delivery right now, where they will drop the food on the porch and ring the doorbell (after you order & pay online).
that's been satisfying our burger cravings.

McDonald's has all these individual little containers for each thing. I'm over-thinking things probably. If I may, my parents have been anxious to get out and do something, and they thought they might go to the local Arby's to get some drive-thru. They asked my sister, who's a doctor, for her opinion, and she said that while there is a risk, it can be significantly reduced by doing the following: 1. Pay cash. Try to figure out how much the bill will probably be ahead of time, put cash and coins into an envelope, and hand it to the worker at the window, telling them to keep whatever change is left. That way, they aren't handing anything back to your parents, either change or their credit card. 2. If they order drinks, it would be best if they the drinks home (not putting a straw in them in the car) and pour them into their own cups. 3. Once they are home, set the bag with the food on the floor, not the counter. Wash hands, then take the food items out of the bag, unwrap them, and place them directly onto plates, not touching them with the same hands that opened the wrappers (maybe have your mum open the wrapper and your dad take the food out). Pour fries, onion rings, nuggets, etc. onto plates from their containers. Immediately dispose of the wrappers in the same bag that is still on the floor once it is empty, throw it into the trash, then wash hands as directed and use hand sanitizer if available before eating. My sister said there are no reports yet of the virus being transmitted through food, and the kitchen workers are wearing gloves to begin with, so the likelihood of it getting onto the food or wrappers is lessened already. These stores are doing significant cleaning every day on their surfaces (or they should be), additionally lowering the risks. I get the fear, as both of my parents are in the same age range as yours, and you're not overthinking it. You're concerned and want to be cautious, but with a little extra effort, a lot of the risk can be eliminated.

Unless they have robots doing all the poses of preparing the food, the problem remains.

Unless they have robots doing all the poses of preparing the food, the problem remains. the problem is with the packaging of the food, not the food itself. so once the bag comes in, containers get opened, and food slid onto plates (that have been put out before touching the bag at the door). . then all packaging goes into a trash bag. . . and hands are well washed before touching any food.

Sorry about venting... Maybe I’m getting stir crazy! Our minister of public safety has ordered that heavy fines be levied against those who would not respect rules on social distancing, and encourages delation of perpetrators. That, to me, is WAY beyond what’s acceptable. The only thing delation ever did is to turn neighbour against neighbour. Just this week, the police came down upon a synagogue where neighbours claimed a crowd was attending a meeting... and there was nobody there. I thought the message was powerful: not only are we already turning on each other out of fear, but the first demon out of the box is anti-semitism? Good job, humanity! We’re supposed to face a crisis together, not accuse the people next door of spreading the black death! We already stay at home, mostly, in our millions. If a few individuals break the rules, it will diminish the efficiency of the quarantine... somewhat. But we are already beyond the stage where isolation could have stopped the disease in its track, and it will now have to run its course, no matter what. Infuriating as their behaviour might be, the few stubborn people here and there who are still meeting each other are not going to do much difference, while encouraging us to turn on our neighbours absolutely will. I think our province's government reacted responsibly to the crisis, at first. It took the difficult decisions that seemed appropriate at the time, like shutting everything down early on. I would be sad indeed to see it turn to authoritarianism as things go on, just because the measures it took aren’t enough to save everyone. What we need is more ventilators and more hospital beds, not more police on the streets.

I think it's time to change my avatar. A picture from a decade+ old comedy album spoofing the ultimate 80s action movie star and unexpected politician has served its purpose, I think. The only trick is I have no idea what to change it to.
Also, it's been so long I don't remember what dimensions it is supposed to be, ha.
Edit:
Duffman will work for now. I am happy to take any suggestions.

You're right, not Duffman. And thanks! I liked it too and will probably bring it back at some point. I feel a little odd about it since it was from the cover of a joke album, but then it came out the singer had gone crazy. Like got into drugs and tried to hire a hitman to take out his wife crazy. Seems he's got himself sorted, but still have mixed feelings supporting him now in any way. Maybe I'll do a rotation. Or a world tour of nerddom. Yeah, I think that.
