A place for small talk and any other discussion that doesn't require its own thread. Ok just joined the forum. I am Flintquail. I just unboxed my childhood collection, bronze stuff, and I found some really clean and currently hot comics. I looked into cgc for poss. getting them graded. The diff. in worth is big from a 8.0 to 9.8. As I read into it, they get 3% of estimated worth for the top end walk through grading. Is it me or would that not lead to a desire to grade them higher in these cases. It just seems too easy to make more money by grading rare titles higher. Let me know what you think. Again I am new. I need to sell what is hot , I need the money. Do I get them graded or sell them just bagged for less? Thanks!!! I'd say it depends on the book, the grades we're talking about, and how soon you need the money. CGC grading is very slow right now because so many people are trying to cash out their collections; if you want them to grade in any reasonable amount of time, you'll have to pay even more to expedite the process. I'd suggest checking out the CGC forums as well for some guidance on what kinds of books are worth the time and money to get them graded.

Show your age here if you remember "Pepsi Free". Yours sir is a lost cause considering that's what Marty drinks in the first Back To The Future

Don't thnk I ever heard of Pepsi Free. I was more of a pepsi than a coke drinker when I was a kid but haven't been in the habit of drinking much of that kind of thing for many years - probably not since the 70s.
I have developed another bad habit the last several years though: sugar-free Red Bull.

I absolutely loved Vanilla Coke back in the early noughties. Count me among those disappointed when it was discontinued.
I don't drink much in the way of soft drinks anymore. Every three months or so I'll imbibe in a four-pack of Mexican Coke.

"I heard mad cats like 'Yo, Pepsi got this new drink in there. Man, that stuff keeps me pulling all-nighters like a muhfugger.' They was talking about Pepsi Free, okay? Pepsi Free is not caffeinated, alright?"

And a 12 pack of Jarritos can last me months. But soda with real sugar is much more amazing and worth waiting on for a treat.

I sold off some comics and the buyers got free avocados almost as big as their heads.
Beats 50% gimmick codeword from that other dude anytime.

Plus, you have to read his lengthy e-mails to get the codeword, and hear him go on and on about what a philanthropist he is and how money no longer means anything to him; it's all about doing good in the world. I suppose that means he's tracked down Edgar Church's family and bought them all mansions? No, I'll take the avocado anyday. Guac and Comics sounds like a thing.

I'll take his chest pounding over Buddy'd conservative political innuendo from my comic shop any day... though of course those discounts aren't very exciting, so you can just skip it all together. Also, the codeword is usually in bold, so you can skim Not that I buy from them much (maybe 5 times ever) but I like his vibe better than Lonestar (if not his business model)

If were are discreetly talking about Mile High Comics, then yeah I don't even like avocados, but I'll take one over a 50% off discount code word on a comic that is already inflated 300% over the going rate of said comic.

I'll take his chest pounding over Buddy'd conservative political innuendo from my comic shop any day I've never actually read the mycomicshop newsletter. I don't mind someone being a different political ideology so long as they aren't throwing it in my face or outright advocating for something that I consider morally outrageous.

but I like that for certain you can link images from there into the Cover contest
