So, I have a question: Did anybody here actually read and or sell Grit Newspapers back in the day? Have always been curious about it
I didn't sell Grit, but someone in my neighborhood did when I was a kid. My mom used to buy it from them, and I always liked it because it had interesting stories that made great article presentations for my 3rd Grade homeroom current events thing every week. I almost always got an A on my current events presentation as a result.
Honestly, Grit was like a combination of Farmer's Almanac, Boy's Life, and Weekly World News... yeah, it was that quirky.

I feel like someone in my neighborhood sold Grit because I know I read it a few times.
Both my older brothers sold comic book greeting cards along their paper routes. By the time I could even consider such shenanigans we’d moved to the country and the nearest neighbor was over 1/2 mile away.

Have always been curious about it Although I grew up in a pretty rural area in Oregon, which was apparently the type of area/community that would have been its target audience, I never, ever saw an issue of Grit nor knew of anybody who read it/had a subscription. I used to think those ads were some kind of scam - i.e., you'd pay the money and get a pile of fake newspapers that nobody wanted to buy.

I'm not in England at the moment and heard it might be as hot as 41C tomorrow, damn, that's hot.
Over here on this island on the equator out hottest days max out at 34-35C, and we're in the tropical rainy season so it's cool and I like to go pick fruit when it's raining....it's still warm outside so I never get sick.

9/5 x (celsius) + 32 = F

Why don’t we discuss something simpler, such as bushels and cubits?

I could do with a bushel of bags and backing boards....better get them now before inflation sends them out of my price range.

You're also forgetting hands, rods, stones, morgens, candlepower and cords & ricks.

I see all your archaic measurements and raise you an assload.
And yes, it was actually a real unit of measurement.

I'm not in England at the moment and heard it might be as hot as 41C tomorrow, damn, that's hot. Looks like it'll peak out at 38°C today where I am, but they are predicting 40°C or 41°C in some parts of England this afternoon, which is totally unprecedented (that's about 104 or 105°F for all you yanks). And I can confirm that it is f***ing hot today! Not that I mind too much; I like the sunny weather. To be honest, English people love to moan about the weather, whatever the weather! It's pretty much an English tradition at this point. And these past few weeks all you hear when you go out is "Ooh, it's much too hot, innit?" or "Oh, it's far too 'ot for me." Myself, I wish it were sunnier here generally, but I will say that because English weather is generally grey, chilly and rainy so much of the time, we have very little infrastructure to deal with hot weather when it arrives. Like, it's the same temperature here today as it was when I was in Memphis, Tennessee and Clarksdale, Mississippi back in 2019, but we have very few buildings here with air conditioning, for example. So, it quickly gets pretty unbearable in shops, restaurants and bars when the temperatures rise here. They don't even give you ice in your water at a restaurant here, unless you specifically ask for it!
