Man we are all going through something right now. Not looking for sympathy but I need to vent:
I am feeling so overwhelmed. I made an appt with my doctor to fill out time off for a 4-6 week leave of absence so I can use short term disability. In the past 2 months my wife had a health scare that thankfully did not require surgery but had her off work for a month. My Mom had to be placed in a nursing home due to her worsening Alzheimers and my Dad is not coping very well that I worry more about him.
My 2 oldest daughters had daughters in the last 6 months so while we get the chance to babysit our 2 grand daughters twice a week it's still hectic.
And we found out my youngest daughter who is a senior in high school took advantage of our exhaustion to start skipping school and doing some other things thinking we wouldn't notice. Yet we did because we care.
Needless to say both my wife & I have no extra reserves to give right now. We both work in health care and that in itself has been challenging.
So I just needed to vent and if you feel lead send some positive thoughts and prayers my way?

Oof. Good vibes to one and all. It seems to be going around, doesn't it. COVID is still going through my house. Thankfully it's been pretty mild as far as it could go, but today I'm just really feeling tired. I guess a week of fighting it is taking a toll.
Also my wife has had some old past issues with her family blow back up again on top of us being sick, so that sucks.
This too shall pass.

Well, it's my birthday today. The big 50! Not quite sure how this has been allowed to happen. I mean, surely I'm still only 32 or something?!

So I placed a wager with a friend...he is backing BoJo...I am betting on Rishi...we are both staring at the unbelievable turn of events in England...I should have wagered on that lettuce too.

In hono of Confessor's 50th birthday (not really but I had to work it in *somehow*), today my comics-loving niece Karly and I are attending the Grit City (formerly Jet City) Comic Show here in Tacoma. This will the first comic con I've attended since Rob Allen and I went to the show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds in the summer of 2019. In fact, this is my first time out of the house for anything other than time at my sister's or a medical appointment since I moved into this apartment in February 2020! To say I'm both excited (and a wee bit trepidatious) is verging perilously close to understatement. I don't even care if I buy anything (though I'm gonna look, natch). Just to be somewhere other than these four-and-a-half rooms is thrill enough.

I'm not a Conservative voter, as you probably know, but I've been saying for the last 5 or so years that Rishi Sunak would be Britain's first Asian Prime Minister. I thought I'd ballsed that prediction up when he lost the leadership contest to Liz Truss, but it now looks as if I'm back in with a shot of being right (and consequently being all smug in public  ). The Tory party is an unbelievable shambles right now. It's hugely embarrassing on the world stage and it must be embarrassing for a lot of Tory voters too. I have a couple of friends who are both staunch Tory supporters (and one time paid up members of the party, in fact) and they both tell me that they consider Boris's personal conduct and the hopeless ineptitude of Liz Truss's term to be awful stains on the reputation of the party they passionately believe in. I just hope whoever ends up in charge of the Conservatives next can get a handle on things and try to keep the country on a relatively even keel until the General Election next year. |
