I think Alfred has a history as a soldier in WW1. Alfred in 3 by KO. Wait, you gotta give us Jarvis's background too if we're to judge impartially.

Both Alfred and Jarvis fought in World War II, Alfred with the French Underground, Jarvis as a pilot for the RAF, so they're a pretty decent match.
Cei-U! Pretty sure Cadbury could take 'em both!

I think Alfred has a history as a soldier in WW1. Alfred in 3 by KO. But who would win if they wrestled?

Alfred has Batman to help him train and strategize. Jarvis may have Captain America, but that's not going to be enough.

Wrestling hasn't been the same, since Frank Gotch retired! I came across his name recently in reference to an exercise routine known as "the Gotch Bible" - apparently something he used to do when he didn't have access to any training facilities or gear or whatever. Basically it was going through a deck of cards and doing a different exercise for each of the four suits, doing whichever number was on the card, adding one for each of the face cards, plus extra for the two Jokers. You can see several different variations on the idea on youtube. Yeah, a lot of catch wrestlers have been rediscovering the training methods of that era, which involved less sophisticated equipment and more physical exercises, with their own body weight. Here Karl Gotch (not related..he's a Belgian, named Karl Istaz) demonstrates an exercise routine with the mace, a weighted ball, on the end of a long pole. It's similar to the Indian/Persian Clbs used in old gyms, and which were part of the Iron Sheik's gimmick (he legit did the exercises and challenged marks from the crowd to try them). Karl Gotch was an Olympic wrestler (1948, freestyle and Greco-Roman) and also trained at Billy Rily's gym, in Wigan, known as "The Snakepit," which trained some of the world's best catch wrestlers. He had a decent career in the US, but was better known internationally, especially in Japan, where he spent decades training the young Japanese wrestlers. He incorporated a lot of traditional Indian wrestler training exercises, like Hindu squats, Hindu press-ups, neck bridges, etc, plus things like the mace and clubs. Former WWF Champion Bob Backlund has a routine that basically just involves a set of steps and a wheel. He does the Harvard Step Test, just stepping up and down on the steps, repeatedly, for a duration, then uses the wheel to do isometric exercises, with his own body weight for resistance. Pretty much a routine that he can do anywhere. Even decades after his retirement, he is still in phenomenal shape.

I’d rather see Alfred vs Jarvis in a cookery competition, presided over by Gordon Ramsey!

The Gentlemanly Art of Self Defense....
In France, they also combined savate with a form of stick fighting, called canne de combat, which is essentially fencing, with a cane, rather than a sword....
You also see a demonstration there, with the baton, or quarter staff (actually, its a buck-and-a-quarter staff; but I'm not telling him that!) Some of the techniques were used by the French police squad. Les Brigades du Tigre, a special flying squad put together by George Clemenceau, to combat rampant crime in Paris, in 1912. They were the subject of a popular French tv series, in the 70s; and, a film, in 2006.

I loved that TV series! I still whistle its title song on a regular basis. It was like the Gallic Hawaii five-O.

I always got the impression fencing was the gentleman’s choice in combat. I know John Steed used it quite often and I can’t think of a more perfect example of a gentleman.
Happy new year all!
