I recently moved from an area where we get snow once or twice a year maybe to one where I've lost count this winter. It's definitely interesting!

Mostly just got ice down here, it's supposed to get down to 18 tonight and I'm honestly hoping for snow because it rarely happens

I do hate how the media comes up with big, scary words for weather stories. Yes, advice and the like is good, and you’ll get advice from the likes of the Met Office, but so-called ‘news outlets’ and ‘newspapers’ will come up with words such as “Snow Bomb” (is that a Marvel villain?) and “Jaws of the Arctic” (is that a low-budget horror film?). They’re pathetic.
I stress that good advice from the likes of the RAC or Met Office should be followed (I follow the RAC on Twitter), but stupid scaremongering from ‘news outlets’ should be ignored.

On the other hand, there is a weather guy getting some online fame by inserting song lyrics into his forecasts, and its hilarious.

I found that the thrill of the hunt and the find was a bigger joy than possessing the comic. I agree! Just the idea of not knowing what you're going to find is wonderful in of itself. I remember when I found a copy of Plastic Man Archives 1 for cheap at a flea market. Has to be one of my favorite finds, though I also wish I'd gotten the All-Star Squadron Showcase that was beside it, but you can't have it all Plastic Man is one of my faves 🙂

ChatGPT is pretty useless when it comes to answering biological questions, if they go beyond the conversational level. It comes up with well-written but extremely generic and bland answers, which are often either factually incorrect or self-contradictory.
It looks as if I'll have time to retire before having to worry about students delegating their term papers to a machine!
There. I said it!

Move the spinner rack to a different spot in the room and suddenly it all feels new again.

Move the spinner rack to a different spot in the room and suddenly it all feels new again. It looks terrific. I recently moved all my boxes around in my attic. It is very refreshing.

Move the spinner rack to a different spot in the room and suddenly it all feels new again. I recently did the same with the card/magazine spinner I have (part of a reset of the whole game/comic room). I'm waiting on the arrival of one more shelving unit (to put short boxes on) to complete the reset. -M

The sight of that spinner rack fills me with childish joy! I loved them back in the day.

Also, in stacks in candy stores. Same here. The reason I loved spinner racks so much is that I'd only see them when visiting relatives in the big cities (Montréal and Québec), and they basically said "here you'll find comics that you won't see at home!"

Growing up in Calgary in the 80s, there was a mix of spinner racks (mostly at convenience stores/drug stores) and together with magazines (grocery stores/bookstores)

I saw both spinners and stationary shelves growing up. I never liked the way the comics got bent over the racks and creased in stores, though that one looks awesome and I'm sure anyone here would take better care of the comics than the general public of decades past.
