Iron Man 3 was good. It hit on the important issues of corporatized fake terrorism. Winter Soldier was better.

The Yankees have fans all over the country. Continued success will do that. Or maybe it's just the Costanza effect.

I can't believe the Cardinals don't have any part of Texas. I can't really make out the county lines on that map, but I live in Texas and I see way more Cardinals gear than Astros. Rangers and Cardinals are about 50/50.

There's actually a dynamic version of that map somewhere where you can hover over the county and there's a pop-up listing the top 3 teams. The yankees are in the top 3 more often than not.

Welcome to the CBRNu52, where everything changes for the worse. This is offensive? Pffft...please. How is this any worse than Terry Dodson or Frank Cho artwork? Or that awful Teen Titans #1 cover for that matter. I don't know, my good man. It's water under the bridge. I left, I'm here...I'm more content.

DubipR, where do you get your avatars? I really dig the current one, in particular.

I know nothing comes close to the amount of Yankee team caps, jackets and other paraphenalia is sold nationally. It's also probably #1 globally

Do you have a link to that version? I'd like to see a similar thing done with the most popular and most hated teams to see which teams evoke strong feelings both ways away from home.

DubipR, where do you get your avatars? I really dig the current one, in particular. My current avatar is by artist, Arthur De Pins. He's an amazing French artist. Check out his work and his books. www.arthurdepins.com/Careful...NSFW. The CBR avatar one was a sketch from Stephen Silver, head animator for Danny Phantom and Kim Possible.

^Huh. I remember a poster who would always sport these cheesecakey gifs for avatars, one of them was a running, bouncy anime lady. Not once did I see folks protest or get upset over it. Part of the appeal of the CBR forums for me was the good-natured raciness. Welcome to the CBRNu52, where everything changes for the worse. This is offensive? Pffft...please. So let me get this straight-- Wieland's new boards are anti-raciness, but we're of the impression that they're not going after New52 any more, even to the extent of the Janelle Asselin essay? New52, which is very nearly *identified* with the raciness of Catwoman and Red Hood? Methinks I am officially confused. Anyway, I tried out my "legalistic backtracking" conspiracy theory on the BEAT as well as here, and no one there seconded it there either. I think I am demonstrably right on a related subject, though. In that Wieland and many others are speaking as if it's irrefutable truth that Asselin's bank account was hacked. According to Asselin herself-- whose blogpost I incorporated into one of my new posts-- she admits that she has only conjecture, not proof, to suggest who done the deed. Oops, can't post the link to my post. Guess I need to reread the Rules section?

My little "Nice Melons" ,when sized is smaller than a postage stamp, if at that. How is she harming or offending anyone? I didn't threaten this lady. But the boards went through Ron Marz getting threats from HEAT, Chuck Austen (not matter what your thoughts are about him) was getting death threats. Its not that far off, despite the gender of the person on what transgressed. Its somewhat hypocritical, but what happened to Asselin goes beyond sickening compared to what happened to those 2 gents. Like I said, the damage has been done. We're moving on....

There's a shade of gray in this request, but I would humbly ask that we not attack Jonah personally when discussing CBR. Technically, his decisions are CBR's decisions, but personal attacks may cause negative attention from CBR that we don't need and even opens the door to allegations of libel.
There's plenty of reason to feel frustrated and angry with the things that have gone down (and apparently still are), but ultimately our not getting along with CBR will cause us more problems than it will cause them.

For a week. Default Re: Icon/Title Quote Originally Posted by Jonah Weiland Hey Dubip, Please change your icon and title -- not the kinda thing I'd like to see on the new forums. I've been a poster on many of your boards and didn't cause any upheaval. I never threatened anyone, never sent a nasty PM to any one, never caused harm mentally to anyone. I've talked comics, classic comics mainly, which you've pretty much threw out in the trash with the reboot. My avatar isn't threatening and doesn't make people upset; it's a lady holding some cantaloupes. Because some people threatened someone I don't know of didn't even know the news of until you posted your ultimatum, why must others suffer for their stupid instincts. I'm about your age, I'm an adult, not so late teen/early 20 something. Your attempt of making the boards more friendly is fine, but the CBRNu52 doesn't make what you're attempting to do work. It's a handful of hostiles that ruined it for someone that likes to interact with the people and talk about our passion. Block them, give them a DOS, do what you think is right for that person. The avatar stays. I've already sent an email of displeasure already on the new boards and haven't heard back from your group yet. - R Here's the reply: You have been banned for the following reason: Made simple request to change icon and title, responded rudely and defensively. Date the ban will be lifted: 05-13-2014, 10:00 AM Rudely? Nah..just correct. Defensively? Maybe but still correct. Least he interacted with your banning and it was only a week lol.

Unrelated, but something maybe relevant and appreciated here? My wife and I have decided to do traditional anniversary gifts for one another as opposed to contemporary, and the first anniversary theme is paper. Well, my LCS had a reward program that gave you "back issue bucks" which are effectively gift certificates toward any old comic - be it in a bin or on the wall. I had been saving for years and loosely talking about one day saving up enough for a killer classic comic to one day frame and hang up somewhere, but I could never decide on what to do. Well, sneaky little minx that she is, she raided my stash and went to my LCS where a good buddy worked, and together they conspired and got me a milestone of Spidey. Now, I was beyond thrilled with the thoughtfulness and craft execution of this gift! What a generous, thoughtful gift that shows she really listens to me and knows what I care about. Now, it gets even better because she *thought* she raided my stash. What she found was the leftover I had in a drawer or something and didnt know about the real stash I had elsewhere with a CRAPLOAD more back issue bucks. I took it as an excuse to go on a shopping spree and got a pretty nice collection. If folks have any interest, I will be glad to post what eventually made it on the wall along with the other finalists. I suppose the "Post your classic pages" or whatsoever the title is thread may be more appropriate?
