Followed in 5 years by the hollow in the stomach, I screwed up feeling... I have done several purges and sometimes there are books I regret getting rid of, but those I did because I needed money at the time, but never because I had decided I just didn't need to have those books in my possession. There are purges out of choice and those out of necessity at the time. I have never once regretted the ones done by choice. Those done for expediency or financial need have caused regrets, but more because I regretted the poor money management issues (hey lets buy stuff instead of paying bills or saving for emergency) than because I had to sell stuff to fix it. The hollow feeling is if I had made better initial decisions I wouldn't have been in the situation where I needed to liquidate to ease the financial burden. When I have purged because I had decided it was time, it was time and haven't looked back. -M

I just did a purge of sorts, too.
But I gave it to my son, so it stays in home. Just, you know, in HIS part of the home. Because that stuff was cluttering up my bookshelves with unpretty things.

Last year I purged by giving away 2 long boxes to a library on FCBD. I'll probably do the same this year.

I do annual purge of books, magazines, and other literature every February as a part of my pre-Spring Cleaning and to get some tax write off because I donate them to charities so that they can sell them to get much needed cash to run it's operation. It's a good thing to do. For my unwanted Comics - I give them to my local library because they love getting them.

I used to have around thirty longboxes worth of stuff. I cut it down to 4 or 5 worth at my lowest. I think I'm back up to about 9 longboxes worth now, but most of that is on bookshelves so it's difficult to tell right now. I may be getting rid of more stuff soon.

A few weeks ago I ordered a special tool that has to be fabricated to order. It arrived and everything was fine. Then today a second one arrived exactly like the first. So I called the guy and said I think he got an address mixed up and I got someone else's order. He said no he lost my paperwork and was pretty sure my order went out but not 100% sure, so he sent another just to be safe. I said I got the first one so if he wanted me to send the second one back I would, he said go ahead and keep it. Awesome.

Anyone else had a video ad for a cruise to Holland appear on the bottom of the forum, or is that just me?

I had the same experience like this three years ago when a video company got an order mixed up and I got two videos for the price is one. One of my older brother, loved that video and wanted a copy of it and I gave the extra copy to him for nothing. So, he was happy as a lark! ... Awesome too!

I didn't realize how much stress the constant medical appointments were putting on me until they stopped. I couldn't relax between visits because I knew there was another one coming. The last two days have been sooooo mellow. And it also looks like progress is being made toward resolving my wheelchair issues, which have been hanging over my head for a solid year but ended up deferred because of the other thing. At this rate, everything could be resolved before the Emerald City con. I won't count on it (I know better than to trust the fates) but it's a joy just to imagine it.
Cei-U! I summon the cautious optimism!

Back when I was heavy into buying up comic collections I'd check the Craigslist for several areas nearby. Like a 120 mile radius. Anyway one day I ran into a guy selling movie scripts, and he had a script for Deadworld. So I bought it. When it arrived in the mail he threw in a Pearl Jam bootleg 2 CD set that was pretty sought after by collectors. I sold it on eBay for more than I paid for the script in the first place.

I know this is kind of water under the bridge at this point, but did you folks see this nearly a year ago?

I know this is kind of water under the bridge at this point, but did you folks see this nearly a year ago? I really wasn't aware of the REAL situation that caused them to reboot and really clamp down on the boards, but I know the X-boards are a quieter, better place for it. Sure, the boards have a little less activity on the x-side, but it got rid of some really NASTY trolls who said some awful things to other users who simply wanted to post about the x-books.
