Even a balanced pizza is still pizza. We usually don't have that many carbs with our evening meals.

With this post, I am now an Old Curmudgeon. When do I get my complementary cane and lawn to protect from pesky youngsters?

Rice and Beans, the Puerto Ricans power battery. I like that combination, but the one in the picture is a bit too heavy on the rice, for me.

When I'm on my low carb diet I am constantly tired. And while I wouldn't say I'm constantly hungry, I am unfulfilled. For a meal it's great. Grilled meat and veggies. For a month or more straight I start to really feel it though.

CHINA HAS INVADED MY FILM-BLOG!!!! I've been running my film-blog for about four years without incident, and without many comments: NATURALISTIC! UNCANNY! MARVELOUS!Now, possibly because some US studio has acquired the rights for a couple of Chinese films I reviewed back in Jan 2014, I got a notice from Blogger telling me that they'd reset my blogpost. which reviewed those 2 films, to "draft." The language of the notification is naturally written with such legal circumlocutions that it's not clear what was the offending material. Presumably it's the image of a lobby-card for one of the two films, since that's the only image reproduced. The message says that I can file a counter-claim if I think that I have the right to post the material, but what are the chances that Blogger will find against someone with deep pockets who threatens to sue them? I think I have to assume that the lawyers behind this film have done this not just with my blog, but with any blogs they located that reproduced images w/o their permission. I'm wondering if there's other recent precedent for this sort of "alleged copyright infringement." Many years ago both Disney and the Lucasfilm people went after Internet people who used their images w/ permission, but eventually wiser heads prevailed, when the big shots decided that the free publicity was more important. Possibly the company that produced the films is antsy about releasing the films in the U.S. and wants to make sure their rights are protected. Anyway, only the one post has been set to draft, and though the content of the blogger-letter is evasive, I think they will allow me to republish the review sans the image. I don't really care that much about the review, much less the two movies themselves, so it's no skin off my nose. If my hypothesis is correct, it should be harder right now to find illustrated reviews online for the Chinese films TAI CHI ZERO and TAI CHI HERO. Ah-- my first purge--! Sounds like a VERY clear case of "fair use", so I would definitely counter-claim. That kind of thing does not go to trial. i finally decided that the counter-claim wasn't worth the time it would take, so, for my own amusement, I took out the TAI CHI visual and substituted a photo of the Gooneybird from TARZAN ESCAPES. with the notion of heaping ridicule on the lawyers who go around looking for minor sites to harass. I agree that the matter would never have gone to trial, but the lawyers have already got their billable hours, so fighting it just costs me time to no avail. Sooner or later maybe they'll try their nonsense on someone who can publicly embarrass them-- though the lawyers probably know better than to go after BLEEDING COOL and the like.
