The United States Of America was founded by people fleeing the oppression of soccer And yet the USA is still trying to get the rights to host the World Cup. Failed for both 2018 and 2022 events... Hate the fact that Qatar got it...I can't go there in halter top and shorts to support my team without getting arrested.

I could not give two shakes of a lamb's fluffy little rear end about soccer. Both of my daughters play it and I of course go to their games and root for them, but I secretly pray they will both give it up and play softball at some point.

America's indifference to soccer is overstated. With 330 million people, even a small percentage being fans is still a lot of people. Fun fact: More Americans bought tickets to the current World Cup in Brasil than any other nation in the world other than the host country. I think the US still has a chance at the 2022 World Cup, because I think Sepp Blatter is just looking for an excuse to take it away from Qatar and save face after what was obviously a bribe job.

I'm not sure it's possible for anyone to have less interest in soccer than I have. I've been watching golf all day. Now I'm watching Cubs/ Philies instead of the Stanley Cup.

My wife is from Chile and I was drafted into the Soccer world. Chile beat Australia 3-1 today and she is bouncing off the walls in a victory run.

So watching soccer and hockey isn't interesting, but watching golf and baseball is? To be fair, I love baseball, I can tolerate a decent golf match, and I'm following neither soccer nor hockey right now, but objectively speaking, soccer and hockey are far more interesting viewing experiences, moment by moment.

Plenty of that plenty aren't Americans, they're from Mexico. And plenty of us are Americans. I know a great many people who are avidly following the World Cup. None of them are from Mexico. All of them, in fact, are from America.

I want to take a moment to share some positive news. After a prolonged pm debate with a mod at the new CBR, one of the higher-ups (I don't know which) apparently stepped in and decreed that I am allowed to continue to advertise for the CCF over there in my signature space. That may not seem like much to those of you who have had some very negative experiences over there as of late, but it shows that someone at CBR is aware of our community and respects it. Up to this point, we've been operating without any knowledge of what CBR thought of our new home and whether there might be troubles in the future if, for example, we attempted to quote from an old post that was technically CBR's property. For the moment, we appear to be in good-standing and, considering how frequently bannings have been occurring as of late with no questions asked, the fact that a higher up explicitly stepped in to defend us really says something. This is not an invitation to get into a huge discussion/rant about how CBR has changed, once again, and it's not an expectation to begin universally praising the site either. It's an acknowledgement that they acknowledge and respect us. And since we now know they've been checking out this forum, I think that makes it more important than ever that we not fall into Anti-CBR rants. Let's remain in good-standing with them. Thanks, everyone, for being a community that's worthy of such respect. Good man. Thanks for doing this. I'll have to say this forum has reinvigorated me. For whatever reason this page downloads better on my computer and I find it easier to navigate.
Thanks for fighting the good fight.
I miss when CBR wasn't a place I associated with fighting...

Colin Cowherd pointed out on the radio this morning that the Brazil/Croatia game got better TV ratings in the US than the last NY/LA Stanley Cup Final game.
