I don't doubt it. Been so long since I covered the courts, though, that I don't have a clear memory of that aspect of the way things work.
Muchas gracias for the clarification.

I recall Cat Yronwoode writing many research articles on romance comics of the 1950s. I believe quite a number of those articles were published in The Comic Reader whereby she told of the history of the genre and a publisher-by-publisher detailed analysis. According to her research, for a number of years during the early 50s, love comics was by far the dominant comic genre accounting for about 33% of the market. She called that period The Love Glut. I've also seen a few hardcover books regarding those comics in various stores the last few years Are you referring to Michelle Nolan's series of columns she wrote on the genre for Comic Book Marketplace, the first column of which was titled "The Love Glut" (1998)? She then compiled the columns/essays/articles and expanded on them, resulting in her excellent 2008 book on this intriguing (IMO) genre Love on the Racks. Highly, highly recommended.

Yes, Yes thanks for kicking the cobwebs from my brain cells. That sounds exactly right, especially since Comic Book Marketplace would be the type of journal such a series would be spotlighted in (Man, I love Alter Ego but CBM is sorely missed).

Thinking of getting a job as a cab driver. Being robbed is a concern but other than that I think it's my ideal job as long as I can earn enough doing it. I've cut my living expenses down pretty low though so I'm pretty sure the income will be fine. And it's flexible enough that I should still be able to do my building inspection without a problem.

From Tuesday -- Received word from my vet today on poor Winston. The call came while I was waiting in a doctor's office, & I had to dash outside to take it, so I wasn't taking notes ... but basically, he died from a fluid build-up in the lungs that normally results from a puncture wound from a cat fight or even something as innocuous as a cockleburr, Dr. Gotthelf said. Thing is, while I was of course generally never here 24/7, he was the *last* cat to ever tussle with the others. I could much more easily see it if it were any of the other 7 ... but as timid & withdrawn as he was, I just can't. And he *never* went outside, so no cockleburrs or the like. Then again, not too long after I got him from Mary. he ran a fever. A couple of my others (Sophie, Sweet Jane) have done the same not long after I got them, & everything went swimmingly ... but who knows? Some sort of infection might've been lingering & developing ever since. Then *again*, he had been to the vet at least twice for routine stuff in the interim, & nothing untoward was ever detected. Heck, just a couple of months ago he was under anesthetic for so long for neutering (he had one undescended testicle, & they weren't able to find it) that they had to stop the surgery for fear he would suffer harm, but even then nothing alarming turned up. So ... just one of those medical mysteries, I guess, that happen with animals & humans alike sometime. Poor baby. It occurs to me, & it truly hurts my heart to think, that he just never felt well. Which might be why he was so timid, withdrawn, etc. And why the other cats didn't often engage him ... I've seen ferals who sense when one of the colony is sick or dying, & they stay away. *sigh* I know it sounds maudlin, & I apologize to y'all who will no doubt roll your eyes, but ... Daddy loved you, Winston. He loved you with all his heart. And always will. Hi Dan stay strong friend .

Well, the Willie Nelson concert was postponed. I just got the email notification from Ticket Master. I guess he's got the flu. That sucks, but at least it's a valid excuse. The Patti Labelle concert my brother had wanted to take me to for my birthday was canceled because Ms Patti decided to go on Dancing with the Stars instead! And he'd already booked a hotel in Amsterdam he could not get refunded, so we we t to see the big Rembrandt exhibit instead. But not sure I'll ever enjoy Patti as much again.

The flu isn't always simple when one is 83 years old. I'm sorry about your Patti concert. I think it's AWFUL when musicians cancel shows and do not reschedule. Not refunding is the worst thing ever.

Just got the notification from Ticket Master that it's rescheduled for Sept. 18th. I know that's quite a bit away from now, but I am just happy that it's being rescheduled. Let me know how the show is that you are going to.

Or is it a standing room only venue? Outside venue? I wish we were seeing him at a standing room only venue because then I could get my dad closer to the stage.

Don't much care about Willie Nelson, but I do approve of shows scheduled for Sept. 18, since that's the day after my birthday. I've seen at least two shows on the 17th (the Cure in NOLA in 1989, Dandy Warhols in Atlanta in 2003) & a bunch of others in the mid-September sweet spot -- Pixies in 2010, Elvis Costello a couple of years after that, Robert Earl Keen in 2003 & again a couple of years ago ... no doubt several others.
