Well, the Willie Nelson concert was postponed. I just got the email notification from Ticket Master. I guess he's got the flu. That sucks, but at least it's a valid excuse. The Patti Labelle concert my brother had wanted to take me to for my birthday was canceled because Ms Patti decided to go on Dancing with the Stars instead! And he'd already booked a hotel in Amsterdam he could not get refunded, so we we t to see the big Rembrandt exhibit instead. But not sure I'll ever enjoy Patti as much again. If she asked you to, maybe you'd change your mind.

I'll try to remember. Allison Kraus and Union Station are opening for him. Love me some Dan Tyminski. Are you going to see him at a seated venue? Or is it a standing room only venue? Outside venue? I wish we were seeing him at a standing room only venue because then I could get my dad closer to the stage. It's an outdoor venue. Combined seating. There are reserved seats and then an outer area with grass that is standing/sitting room. I've only been there once many years ago for the Down From The Mountain tour. But it's a pretty decent venue.

Don't much care about Willie Nelson, but I do approve of shows scheduled for Sept. 18, since that's the day after my birthday. I've seen at least two shows on the 17th (the Cure in NOLA in 1989, Dandy Warhols in Atlanta in 2003) & a bunch of others in the mid-September sweet spot -- Pixies in 2010, Elvis Costello a couple of years after that, Robert Earl Keen in 2003 & again a couple of years ago ... no doubt several others. I saw Elvis Costello at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. The sound SUCKED. I was super disappointed in that show. That was the show that taught me that if I cannot get seats near the stage, or it's not a standing room only venue, I'm not going to bother.

My only issue with outdoor venues during the summer is the amount of bees. They're EVERYWHERE. Other than that, if it's not too hot, they're pretty much decent from what I can recall.

I have three other artists I want to see with my dad: *David Bowie *Tom Waits *Elvis Costello
I probably won't get him to go see Bowie with me, but I could probably easily get him to go see Elvis Costello with me, and I *might* be able to get him to go see Tom Waits with me.

Took a short break from the all Golden Age stuff today to work a little on my Marvel Universe master index and hit page 350!
Cei-U! I summon the minor milestone!

Thinking of getting a job as a cab driver. Being robbed is a concern but other than that I think it's my ideal job as long as I can earn enough doing it. I've cut my living expenses down pretty low though so I'm pretty sure the income will be fine. And it's flexible enough that I should still be able to do my building inspection without a problem. I think that sounds like a pretty good idea, dupont. My brother is a detective, and when he has work, it's pretty good, although somewhat dangerous. I suggested he drive a taxi to supplement and he was extremely offended ! I'm starting a regular office job with Hertz selling rental services over the Internet to kiosks around the country. That gives me steady benefits and income while I keep my insurance licenses in force and work for a brokerage on the side at my own pace.

From Tuesday -- Received word from my vet today on poor Winston. The call came while I was waiting in a doctor's office, & I had to dash outside to take it, so I wasn't taking notes ... but basically, he died from a fluid build-up in the lungs that normally results from a puncture wound from a cat fight or even something as innocuous as a cockleburr, Dr. Gotthelf said. Thing is, while I was of course generally never here 24/7, he was the *last* cat to ever tussle with the others. I could much more easily see it if it were any of the other 7 ... but as timid & withdrawn as he was, I just can't. And he *never* went outside, so no cockleburrs or the like. Then again, not too long after I got him from Mary. he ran a fever. A couple of my others (Sophie, Sweet Jane) have done the same not long after I got them, & everything went swimmingly ... but who knows? Some sort of infection might've been lingering & developing ever since. Then *again*, he had been to the vet at least twice for routine stuff in the interim, & nothing untoward was ever detected. Heck, just a couple of months ago he was under anesthetic for so long for neutering (he had one undescended testicle, & they weren't able to find it) that they had to stop the surgery for fear he would suffer harm, but even then nothing alarming turned up. So ... just one of those medical mysteries, I guess, that happen with animals & humans alike sometime. Poor baby. It occurs to me, & it truly hurts my heart to think, that he just never felt well. Which might be why he was so timid, withdrawn, etc. And why the other cats didn't often engage him ... I've seen ferals who sense when one of the colony is sick or dying, & they stay away. *sigh* I know it sounds maudlin, & I apologize to y'all who will no doubt roll your eyes, but ... Daddy loved you, Winston. He loved you with all his heart. And always will. Hi Dan stay strong friend . I've been gone for about a week and was catching up on the last couple of screens worth of boards. I truly am sorry about Winston. That's so weird. Susan and I lost Gertie. A necropsy was performed and she was asphyxiated. It didn't go any further than that, but she was in the groomer's care. We, and sister Hildie, were broken-hearted. She too, was the more timid of the two. It didn't seem fair then and it still doesn't. You did the best that you could though, like we do. It sounds like you give your fur babies good attention and love, and despite that, things happen. Despite him being gone, he's not forgotten, and you made his life better while he was here. Gertie too, had the best life and love she possibly could have had, with us.

I've thought about signing up as an Uber driver, but my car is a piece of crap. I'd have to buy a new (used) one...

I've thought about signing up as an Uber driver, but my car is a piece of crap. I'd have to buy a new (used) one... I've used Uber quite a few times to get around and the drivers have told me its a great job since they can set their own hours. Maybe investing in the car isn't a bad idea
