I've thought about signing up as an Uber driver, but my car is a piece of crap. I'd have to buy a new (used) one... I've used Uber quite a few times to get around and the drivers have told me its a great job since they can set their own hours. Maybe investing in the car isn't a bad idea If you live in a nice area I'm sure it's fine. If I lived in a shady area I'd want the added security (what little there is) cabs have. Lock boxes, cameras everywhere, ect. I think in bad areas cabs even have partitions like cop cars do.

The thinking is that every Uber passenger should have a phone number and credit card on file with the company; so it would be foolish for them to try anything violent. And NYC cabs have dividers. Or at least they used to.

My flight from Chile back to NY is in 4 more hours. The end of things is always sad.

My flight from Chile back to NY is in 4 more hours. The end of things is always sad. I know exactly how you feel when you come home from any trip and these memories can last a lifetime and that's make it special when you reflect on any trip including your trip to Chile that has memories to fill endless pages of a novel that only you can write and reflect on. I understand that.

Right when I was about to really start freaking out about money I got a paycheck for three times more than I expected and two weeks of non stop work, some of it prevailing wage, bringing me back up to a comfortable place. I'll still probably go for the cab driver job as soon as I get a chance, but this was such a huge relief. Bought new socks and a tank top in celebration.I have a list of things I was going to sell on Craigslist this week sitting here on my desktop.

I Suffer from depression/anxiety some days are worse than others my meds can only do so much. read my older posts to learn more. Glad you're here, wickedmountain. I enjoy your presence on the boards and I know I'm not alone.
Depression really is an insidious disease. While things like Alzheimer's and Dementia steal your past; and childhood ailments, genetics, and politics abscond with your future, depression robs you of your ability to live in the present. It can come to rule your life, to the point that it's been said, "If a curative wand lay on a table eight feet away, it would be too much trouble to walk over and pick it up."
Do hang in there. As cliché as it sounds, it actually does get better. Now and again.
