Fasting? Only under vile duress, i.e. when unable to beat because of Crohn's or whatever. When I'm not at work I'll sometimes neglect to eat for maybe a day or so, but that's not quite fasting. Yeah I rarely eat more than one meal a day. Maybe a snack at lunch when I'm at work. Does the Crohn's mean you can't eat? Like you can't keep it down? I know you've told me you can't eat certain things due to it. I just get really frustrated and angry that a 12 year old child doesn't get the choice to eat.

Anyone ever fast for whatever reason? Nope. I'm morally opposed to fasting.

More like I have such abdominal pain that the idea of eating is repellent. Though when it *really* acts up, the pain is enough to make me throw up. That doesn't happen very often, thank god ... maybe every 3 or 4 years, tops.

10 year high school reunion coming up in a few months. Has anyone ever been to one of these? I'm indifferent about potentially going. My high school was a pretty nice one I'd say. My experience overall was positive. There are always going to be assholes, but I remember more good experiences than bad ones. Part of me feels like it's pointless to attend because of Facebook and everyone I care about I already keep in touch with. At the same time there are people I don't keep in touch with, but wouldn't mind having a quick word. Plus I have some curiosity as to actually seeing some people in person after a decade. I wish I had graduated so I could have attended. I did track down as many old friends from school as I could on Facebook, but the reunion could have been fun.

I went on a bit of an online shopping spree over the weekend. All those sales were beckoning me. My mom bought a new mattress and a new car. She's usually super frugal. I always tell her she should do something for herself and she always says "Oh, a ball of yarn or a couple things from a yard sale is fine for me!" and never buys herself anything more than used clothes. So I'm glad she splurged. She had been given a raise that was five months past due so they gave her back pay and she had a little extra cash. Glad she didn't spend it all on my sister, but I wouldn't be surprised to see my sister in some new Prada shoes sooner or later from it.

I think Facebook has taken a lot of the steam out of reunions, but we had our 20th a couple years ago and meeting in person is still a lot better than Facebook. Facebook does make planning these things a lot easier, though. Like Trebor, I went to a small private Christian school and am now an agnostic. My class was very, very cliquey, but for the large part, that has disappeared with time. People are friendlier and more interesting now than they were in school. I mean, we were all kids who didn't know who we were, and none of wanted to be there. Now, we're actual people. Even those who didn't get along back in the day seem to like each other now. OUr 20th was a really good time, and we're hoping for a much bigger turnout for our 25th. I was a complete douchebag when I was a kid. I've already made friends with people who had every right to dislike me, but would like to show more of them I'm not as much of a jerk any more. I wouldn't say I was a bully, but that may just be because I have an "I'm never wrong" perspective. I will say I got in a fight almost every day of my teenage years, and my early 20's, and my preteens.

As shocking as it seems to think about, 2016 will be my 20th high school reunion. Jeez I shouldn't be this old. I'd never go. I didn't have a good experience. It's a Christian private school and I'm now a card-carrying atheist, so I don't think it would be a good mix. I was always an agnostic (though I didn't realize it in my younger days of course) and my parents wanted me to go given the relative safety of the environment and better teaching. Unfortunately, my interests were always history and science, and as you might expect, faith-based schooling is severely lacking in those two areas for the most part. You certainly aren't going to get many unbiased facts. I also went to a private Christian school, but we didn't have any issues that I remember with weird science or history. I wasn't interested much in science anyway, so I might have missed it, but our history teacher was really good. We only got the weird alternate history stuff in Bible class. What denomination was your school, if you don't mind me asking?

I was never one to just spend money. I'm still usually decent about not spending a ton, but I've learned to buy things for myself. I bought two shirts, some ridiculously hideous, but lovable, boots, and some workout headbands to hold my hair out of my face when it starts falling out of the clip while I'm working out. I really had to hold back from getting more tennis shoes because some were hugely discounted, but I couldn't justify another pair.

What denomination was your school, if you don't mind me asking? It was Baptist. The thing about the school is that the actual staff of teachers was, for the most part, top notch in terms of "talent" but some of the people that substituted and filled in, usually people who weren't qualified to teach frankly, were often oddballs. I kid you not, but we had one woman who told us in study hall that she didn't eat at Burger King because, "They say have it your way and not the Lords!" I have a few amusing stories about getting into trouble for writing strange "What I Did Over the Summer" papers for substitute teachers who seemed to only want to read Country Living the whole period. (Half of those included me ripping off David Letterman Top 10 lists, but the other half was my material.) I will say that toward the end of my high school years I noticed that they started phasing these people out and hiring younger, more progressive teachers.

I was never involved in any extra-curricular activities at school. My classmates didn't understand, but I'm the oldest of 7 kids and helped my parents as kind of a half-parent, and worked the family businesses of the farm and wholesale beverages (liquor and soda).
That being the case, I wasn't a jock, but got along well with everyone and always have. Went to my 5, 10, and 15 year. Didn't go to 20 as I was in California, not Iowa. We didn't have a 25 but we did have a 30 and, frankly, I'm not in touch with any of them anymore, so I passed.

I'm still in touch with most of the people in high school about whom I gave a damn.
I've fasted for 12 - 24 hours before getting bloodwork done.

Due to a planned local power outage my LCS closed early last night: no comics for me until tomorrow.

I signed my new work contract yesterday (and got a spiffy lanyard that would make Agent Koenig very happy), but I still do not know where exactly I'll start my training July 1, nor where I will end up after the training. Could be anywhere in my state.
I'll be working for the occupational psychology service of the federal employment agency. I'll mostly be doing aptitude tests and counsel people who are looking to get publicly funded retraining and other qualification programs.
Pays 50% more than my current gig even when I'm still a trainee.

I have fasted in the past about 4 or so separate times. All for the sake of others and to hear from God. The longest was 3 days on just tea and water. It's been a good few years since I have fasted.
