Now, don't assume she'll break your heart. Grow older, not need you as she does now, but I hope all of that isn't what you mean by breaking your heart. As you revel now in the joy of the changes you see in her very day, so you'll also revel in the joy of watching her grow up and carve out a life of her own. Just keep reminding yourself that these early years are precious, and that they are to be treasured and savored. And that they go by so fast... so very fast. I don't know, man, that sounds pretty heart-breaking to me! I am exaggerating some, and I fully understand there will that positive aspect, too, and i wouldn't want to hold her back. It will just be bittersweet and I know that no matter how trying it can be at times to care for her while she is so dependent that I will miss it when that time has passed.

Back up and running with the new monitor on my desktop. Woot! -M What a great birthday present! We went to Columbus on Sunday, and I stopped in a computer parts/product superstore called Microcenter and bought a new monitor (well new for me, it was refurbished but came with a 2 year warranty and we plan on replacing the desktop sometime next year anyways) for under $50, but when we got home, realized the VGA/VDI cords did not match and needed an adapter, but no one in town stocked them (not Radio Shack*, not Best Buy, not Wal-Mart or any box store in town), and I didn't want to drive 45 minutes one way back to Columbus to go back to Microcenter, so ended up ordering one via Amazon Prime, which was delivered today allowing me to get back up and running. So I could have been back up on Sunday if either my wife or I had thought to check the cable connectors, but alas we didn't. -M * Radio Shack did have one allegedly (it said it had 1 in stock but warned stock levels had a margin of error of +/-2), but was charging $22 for it, while the one we ordered on Amazon was $3 and change with free shipping, it's no wonder Radio Shack is going out of business, they don't carry much and overcharge for what they do carry.

Yeah, Radio Shack is pretty much only for people who don't trust the internet or people who want something NOW. Once in a great while I'll have a new toy and want to hook it up the day I buy it so after tearing it out of it's box and setting it up I realize I'm a cord short and run out to Radio Shack and pay $15 for something I know I can buy form China for a dollar. Not often though, and won't miss the place when it's gone.

thanks, Rob, I'll have a look at those links. I have bought a few things like this in the past - some look like reprints of the original mags, others, like some Startling Stories I ordered recently, are a mix classic pulp with some new stories. Haven't found a Weird Tales yet, but I'm sure there's something out there.

Tomorrow (the 15th) is Amazon Prime Day (supposedly rivaling Black Friday for offers to Prime Members) and I have a $50 gift card for Amazon, so we'll see what kind of deals I can scare up for trades or comic related stuff as a day after birthday gift. My want list on Amazon is a bit long at the moment, so we will see if anything on it gets the Prime Day deals.

Were there any comic deals? I don't have Prime but some friends do. Their review is it was a waste of time. I don't think anyone got the TV

The deals were mostly on electronics and stuff, very few comics were included and they were mostly on small publisher stuff like Jet City Comics or adaptations of sci fi/fantasy books like the George RR Martin Hedge Knight comics. There were a lot of deals the general public would have been interested in for sure, just not a die hard comics fan. I did use my gift card on some trades though.

I was tremendously underwhelmed with Amazon's event.

I didn't see anything that really stood out on Amazon Prime Day, though to be fair, it's very difficult to shop on Amazon unless you know exactly what you are looking for. They have such an expansive assortment of products that's just unwieldy to browse.

Speaking about Amazon, I was in a 7-11 store and noticed a section called Amazon Locker. It had about 36 locker units from floor to ceiling of various sizes. Is that for homeless people who order from Amazon?
