It doesn't really seems like the welcoming community he is trying to envision. Strictly prohibiting off-the-cuff conversation and banning people for using colloquial lingo is just really being paranoid. You'll be banning people every day if that is the case. And sooner or later you'll ban the wrong person. Won't be surprised if CBR gets hijacked in the near future if this is the attitude that is going to be the norm. Like I said before I think CBR is just under fire and this is a PR nightmare that needs to be cleaned up. Jonah just locked another thread not too long ago where people wanted to discuss the fallout of what happened. Yeah it's not a democracy or whatever, and he owns the boards. It's kind of like letting a friend play your PS4 at your house and then getting a phone call compliant from the neighbor regarding some bright light fixtures from your home, and then proceeding to turn off the entire circuit breaker in your own house, which in of course screws your buddy. Sure it's your house, your rules, but that doesn't mean you should have folks over, encourage them to have fun and then throw them in the crossfire because of some unrelated problem. It's the principle of the entire thing that irks me. Jonah doesn't owe anyone anything, but at the same time it was just kind of rude how everything was conducted. Your suggestion seems funny, but I think you'd be looking at a perma-ban if you went through with it. Not sure if you intended to stay there moving forward anyways. I still have some nice conversations with the folks over there with TV, film, and sports talk so I wanted to stick around there for a while. Might give up soon though. |

By the way just so I'm clear, what are the general rules of this place? What isn't allowed to be posted? What kind of behavior is allowed? I'm guessing common sense stuff like no photos or gifs that are too raunchy and...just don't be a general A-hole right?

There is a thread here called "CBR, Next steps" that has a lot of discussion about the changes. I figure if we keep it all in one place, we can use the Meanwhile thread as a general chat thread where we talk about what he have for dinner or what movies we see without being reminded about the CBR Ragnarök all the time.

I really should create a thread that addresses this, even if no one ever reads those things. Let's be honest -- if you're the kind of person to ask/check, you're probably not the kind of person who needs to read it. Generally speaking, I envision similar parameters to the old place. Keep it civil and workplace safe, assume kids are logging in and reading, try not to write anything too inflammatory about certain other online communities (I'm sure some of them have given this place a look. I posted the link there enough). I'll write up something more concrete soon. |

I assumed Chozen would just me 22 minute blocks of gay jokes, so I never bothered. I got that impression from the previews but it's actually pretty good. Rick and Morty is crazy fun and weird. I'm ecstatic that it was picked up for a second season. Hey,if we move the Cover Contest here, I won't mind about being perma-banned. should start one here. |
