This just went live yesterday. I've been following its development for a long while now, and yet I'm still amazed at the quality of the finished product. roel, the creator of this film, had Stan Sakai's official blessing on this project, as well as with the statues he's been creating and selling for several years now. The man has extraordinary talent, as this short film clearly shows: roel is currently working to secure the rights and capital to produce a feature length film of Usagi in this style. The film is also being discussed at the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo (Stan's official discussion site which, incidentally, was the community that first pointed me to CBR as a place to discuss classic comics back in 2006).

That was seriously awesome, and very well done! That opening with the rain was some really good stop motion animation, the way the blades of grass moved was something I'd never seen done before. I'd love a feature length film done by these guys and I wish I had seen this before I went to Boston, I would have loved to have heard Stan's opinion on this.

I definitely look forward to a full length version.
And now I know how to pronounce Gen's name correctly.
