I'm very new to Moebius (bought a bunch of Humanoids stuff earlier this year and The Invalid stuff was part of it), but I love his stuff. I really want to get the Silver Surfer thing he did but I'm never clear if I'd be buying the collection or just the first issue.

I really want to get the Silver Surfer thing he did but I'm never clear if I'd be buying the collection or just the first issue. The series, published under the Epic Comics imprint was a 2 issue mini-series... It has been collected in trade 3 times as far as I know-2 from the Epic line, a hardcover and softcover, both titled Parable each of which has he same contents, the 2 issue mini series and a 14 page making of feature. The third was the Marvel Premiere hc edition from 2012 also called Parable, which collects the 2 issue mini series and the Surfer OGN Enslavers by Stan Lee and Keith Pollard. This one does not have the 14 page making of feature as far as I know. So if you are buying a trade called Parable, you are getting both issues. If you are buying the mini (Parable was the story title but not used anywhere on the trade dress) you need to get both issues (I see them for $5-$10 each in high grade often, about what you will pay for the trades which run about $20 usually). -M

Didn't expect much and didn't get much, and that's okay. The presents my kids got were HUGE hits and we had an amazing day. That's the gift I really wanted.

Two comics-related gifts for the Phil-ster from the family (working from my detailed Christmas list): 1. The remaining Masters of Kung-Fu required to complete the series (103-125). 2. Marvel Preview #2, first origin of the Punisher. Thankfully, no mercy bullets in use on that Gray Morrow cover. Ah. A mod must have fixed the Punisher image. Thank you!

My "haul", as it stands, was pretty light this year. My wife ordered me something (identity yet unknown) that hasn't arrived yet, and I deferred the rest of my gift until the stores restock with the NES Classic. My older daughter got me a magnet with the cover of Daredevil #181 on it, while my younger one got me a small Pittsburgh Pirates fleece throw.
From my parents, cash that will be spent on comics, and my sister got me a Mexican slow-cooker cookbook, an Amazon gift card, and a small smoker box for my grill. The first and third gifts are selfish on her part, which she readily admits, because she knows I will invite her over to dinner and make things from/with those items.
The best part of the holiday for me was serving breakfast to over 450 people at church in the morning, then making dinner with my sister and serving our assembled family members in the evening. Well, those and all of the squeals from my daughters as they opened their presents; my mom and sister went overboard this year, as they do every year, so my living room looks like a store threw up in it.

Christmas is always the big gift time a year for me, often even more so then for others because my birthday is coming up to, December 28th, so I often get both at the same time or close to it from relatives that will have gone home by that day. Mostly I got a lot of non comic or pop culture related stuff, but I did get a nice Spidey coffee cup and some xbox gaming gear. Other then that mostly clothes and stuff like that + a few gift cards. I also got some scottish whiskey and a small glas barrel with a tap that is just big enough to have a bottle in it. Its pretty great to be able to quickly take a drink if you want to. Espescially when you have family and their pets staying with you for several days.

Danish and Norwegian are extremely similiar, like 90-95% or something like that so I do speak/understand it mostly. It doesnt hurt either that my stepbrother is married to a Norwegian and my stepsiter is engaged to one, but even so it becomes difficult sometimes to understand them, espescially after 7-8 shots of snaps.

My comic's related haul was fairly small this year, because I mostly got given music and gin! However, I did get the next Blake & Mortimer book that I need for my collection, S.O.S. Meteors, along with the 3 volume, slipcase edition of Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Nemo trilogy, and a cool Silver Age Marvel mug.
