As a kid I used to 'fix' my comics with sellotape; tears, rips, loose covers... sellotape was my friend. I wasn't very good at ripping the price stickers off the covers either... Young and foolish is the only excuse my older self accepts!

What I still do (shhh!) is if one complete sheet is nothing but ad copy, I tear the sheet out of the book! Gasp!

When I was a little kid for some reason I thought comics would look better with rounded edges, so I took a nail scissor to the corners of several of them. Later on I did tape a few torn ones, but that was before I learned how bad taping them was for their long-term quality. What I still do (shhh!) is if one complete sheet is nothing but ad copy, I tear the sheet out of the book! So you're the guy! A couple of times in my back issue buying career I have bought books in bags/boards and when I got them home discovered someone had pulled the staples out, removed all the 2 page spreads (folios) that were ads only and left only the content pages, put the staples back and bend them back to original position so the book looked whole. It was always DC books (there were issues of Return of the New Gods including the First Issue Special series and some Justice League back issues among others. The oddest thing is that it has happened both back in Connecticut when I lived there and here in Ohio several years apart, but they were all DC books from the same 2 year publishing span. -M

This is my only book which needs a "fix" which won't be considered restoration. It is possible to flatten the spine curl which occurred while it was packed away in a wooden chest in an attic for some 70+ years. Only I'd rather it be done by a specialist since I'm paranoid.
