I must really not like anime style art. I fell asleep during the first episode and have zero desire to watch the remaining episodes. I missed any of the teasers but remembered hearing about this a while back and had hoped it would be a fun amped up cartoon with lots of action and creatures. I was disappointed to say the least with what I saw.

I guess it's a personal preference but I think the anime style was a perfect fit as it matched the look of the box art, especially that of Symphony of the Night, which was my favorite game in the series.

This was indeed qiute ugly despite the few innovations it attempted, but I found it fun enough to be interested in the next chapter/season. But I'm not sure that Ellis will keep his interest in it much longer. It really felt like one of those comics he writes the initial issue of and leaves to another writer to develop.

It's a fairly good watch. The anime style is kind of the stuff of the early to mid 2000's like Legend of Crystania, Claymore or Rin. So better than most newer anime. SotN was my first Castlevania and then later the GBA games. So outside of Alucard and Lisa most of the characters I know little about.
It certainly started slow but it's still almost two hours so I guess it filled out alright. Most of the action being 90% of the last episode didn't help the start seem longer. But it was pretty good action. All the gore made me think it be Tarantino directed lol
I'll watch more episodes if there ever are more now that Alucard is a main player.
I thought they got some good voice talent. Many I recognized from their previous voice acting roles. So it was cool hearing familiar voices. I don't know Trevor as a character in the games but they really wrote him that brooding Cloud Strife (or 90% of male anime protagonist too obviously) so other than the story progressing could really have cared less his involvement.
Nice touch on Alucard's suit matching the concept art of SoTN.

I watched and enjoyed season 1. Haven't gotten to season 2 yet. And season 3 is in production. For those who were wondering about Ellis' level of involvement. He is the showrunner, writer, producer, and sits in on dialouge recording sessions via computer (Skype or the like) and does on the fly rewrites of dialogue if it doesn't work right when actually spoken, so he is deeply involved in the entire creative process (except the actual art/animation process, but still oversees aspects of that as producer).

I only watched Season 1. Lovely animation, but I don't believe Warren Ellis is to my liking.

I could have went without the humor during the bar fight scene in episode two and some of the vulgar language at times feels unnecessary. I have no connection with the game at all but overall it's a decent enough horror anime. I'm about half way through the second season.
