I would certainly not open it. You can find all those comics cheaply and easily, much more cheaply and much more easily than finding an unopened 3-pack.

I can think of plenty of ways comics still sealed in the bag could no longer be NM

I can think of plenty of ways comics still sealed in the bag could no longer be NM You'd never really know about 'unseen' flaws, unless you burst open the packaging. And then that rare $$$ package just becomes a few bucks...

You can see the spine through the bag. Even something in a black bag like Superman 75, a lot were left bagged but not stored all that well. Running your fingers over the spine and across the edges can reveal a lot.

Since I can read all those issues digitally, I'd probably sell it and buy myself that Batman themed Segway that I've always wanted.

I'd like to point out, to those that might not have noticed, that this cover featured the Hulk's short-lived rope-belt -- for this brief moment in time, the Hulk was apparently worried about the consequences of his pants falling down. I wonder if this had anything to do with the CCA?

See, I forgot about that because I always think of the Hulk in trunks during that era. Good catch, as usual. *clenches fist in frustration*

I'd open it because I'd be worried that the acidity of the bag was slowly killing the books within. Those suppliers certainly didn't give a crud about archival safe materials.

I would open it. To paraphrase Dr McCoy:
Damn it Jim. I'm a reader not a collector!

I'd check e-bay to see if the book as a rare 3-pack had more value than the single issues within (which don't interest me that much) and probably sell it for something I wanted more

I bought several comic book packs like that when I began collecting in 1989. However, I soon realized that a significant amount of the comics in those packs were second and third printings. These packs were told at Toys R Us, so I wonder if they had a deal with Whitman or DC to make new printings in order to have enough packs to sell in stores across America. The odd part is that they were all run fillers, not special issues.

I've heard about some of the bags being opened and books being submitted to CGC and coming back with 9.6 - 9.8 grades...so some of those bags weren't bad, or were safely archived themselves to the point they didn't deteriorate as badly.

I'd open it. It has a monster that looks kind of like a dinosaur on the cover!

I'd open it. I'd keep all of those issues.
