Mistakes are fine, there's plenty of people here who will chip in and correct you! Of course, the CCF podcast might need it's own section here for people to contribute corrections, comments and ideas though...

73 mins in -- "Who's reading the Miranda Rights? Squeaks??" Time for CB to actually get licensed for law enforcement.
74 mins in -- What's wrong with fencing??
75 mins in -- the Comics Code Authority prohibits the word "Crime" on a book, so Crimebuster becomes "CB"
77 mins in -- Connecting the Comics Code Authority to DC's litigious actions against Fawcett. Nicely done.
78 mins in -- Interesting how, on the one hand, Lev Gleeson worked so hard to change with the times and move into new genres while, on the other, Lev Gleeson was put out of business by The Comics Code because all it had was crime-related comics.
80 mins in -- Marvel's Daredevil was based upon Lev Gleeson's Daredevil? What did they share in common beyond the name?

84 mins -- Crimebuster and Rage Against The Machine. Not a connection I expected. 86 mins -- noted. I think I'll go check out online versions of some of the issues you discussed here. 87 mins -- Okay. #7 and #19 have me intrigued... 88 mins -- I didn't know Joe Kubert worked on Crimebuster. 92 mins -- I like learning about comics I know nothing about! Thanks for this!! Awkward silence = awesomeness

80 mins in -- Marvel's Daredevil was based upon Lev Gleeson's Daredevil? What did they share in common beyond the name? Not much. I think there's some similarity between the second, all-red Daredevil costume from Marvel and the original's, but... even that's a little bit of a stretch. Also, while Matt Murdock had his super powers, there's a basic costumed acrobat style to their action/fighting that's similar. 84 mins -- Crimebuster and Rage Against The Machine. Not a connection I expected. The original by Mel Ramos and the edited version for the album cover: 88 mins -- I didn't know Joe Kubert worked on Crimebuster. Here's the cover for #116 (not #115 as I mistakenly said in the podcast): {Spoiler} An interior page:

There's a stronger connection between the Marvel DD and Dr Mid-Nite, with the night vision and the radar sense. However, this kind of thing had been done previously, in the pulps.

One thing I'm going to do with each guest on the podcast, at shaxper's suggestion, is do a brief comics questionnaire, similar to the thing they do at the end of each episode of Inside the Actors Studio. Only, about comics.
I was wondering what questions you guys would be interested in hearing answered by the guests. The idea is to get a quick snapshot of the guest's comic tastes and background so listeners have some idea where they are coming from and there's some context to their commentary.
A couple questions I'm thinking about are:
What was your first comic?
What's your favorite comic book storyline?
Who's your favorite comic book character?
Who's your favorite comic creator?
That's all pretty basic, so I'd like to spice it up a little bit with some more offbeat questions.
Any suggestions or ideas?

Most underappreciated run/property/creator? Most cherished book in your collection? Most ridiculous comic-related memory? Your desert island books? If you could meet and talk with one creator, who would it be? If you could live in one comic book world, which would it be? (if interviewing members) What do you do in your non-CCF life? (if interviewing members) where did your username come from?

Well, I went and did it: soundcloud.com/user-345948865/classic-comics-podcast-0I'm in the process of getting it added to iTunes, and will look into adding it to other podcast distribution systems. For now it can be listened to on Soundcloud, and I think it can be downloaded from there as well. I don't know, I'm not Reed Richards here. This is just a test episode for me to learn how all this stuff works. I still have another step to go, which is learning how to record Skype conversations and then turn them into podcasts. Once I figure that out, I hope to set up the next couple episodes, which will hopefully be me talking with various members of our forums here about their favorite - or least favorite - classic comics, and discussing and debating those runs. This is very low tech, the sound quality is so-so in places, and it's just me rambling for 90 minutes about Boy Comics, so hopefully it will get a lot more interesting once I know how to get other people involved. No promises, though, it might always suck this bad! The link doesn't seem to work anymore... Did the test episode outlive its usefulness? I was curious to listen to it!

I know what the problem is, but it might take me a little while to sort it out. More info once I get it sorted.

So, the short version is that Soundcloud is not going to be a viable hosting service. Turns out that the free hosting service only allows 3 total hours of audio, so I can only have two episodes at a time up, and when I upload a new episode, they shut down the old one.
Obviously, this isn't going to work, so I am in the process of figuring out which hosting service to use instead. Since I will have to upload all the content to the new service once I have that set up, I'm going to take a little time to edit this test episode into something a little more polished now that I have some experience with the editing software. There were also a couple factual errors in it that I caught, so I am going to fix those with some re-recording.
The upshot is it might be a few days before this episode is available again, but once it is, it will be better, and I will have new info for all the podcast episodes, as well as audio players that should allow everyone to listen to the podcast right here through the forums. It just may take a little time to set that stuff up.

Listened to this podcast at work this morning. Learned a lot about a title that I knew absolutely nothing about. I'm not much of a Golden Age guy, but I may check out some issues online based on this.
Good stuff as always, CB!
