I've had two printed. I was in a message board in 2010 focused on the Dark Horse launch of the Gold Key characters, and Dark Horse Fed Exed me a proof copy of Doctor Solar 1 so I could write a letter about it. I did so and emailed the letter to line editor Chris Warner and it was printed in Doctor Solar 2. I also had a letter printed in an issue of Jonah Hex back in the day.

Was there ever at least two pages full of fan letters or just the usual whole one page fir any comic book during the 1980s or 1990s? A lot of DC books had two full pages in the 80's, particularly their more serious or prestige books.

Did anyone here have a letter printed? I had a letter printed in Avengers #353, where my concerns and questions were totally blown off in the Merry Marvel Manner.

I remember TM Maple well. He must've had thousands of letters published. The more prolific letter writers back in the day were minor celebrities to some of us. And of course a few went on to be comic book creators like Kurt Busiek. He had several letters printed in the Stern/Byrne Capt America run.

IN the 70s, all the more thoughful Marvel series had great letters pages, many of the best letters coming from that same set of exceptional letter page contributeurs - JM de Matteis, TM Maple, Dean Mullaney, Cat Yronwode, ... can't remember them all now. So ToD, Dr Strange, Killraven, MoKF are some of the series that I recall having the best letters pages.

The Cerebus letter pages were always quite the interesting read. Sim always seemed to have more than enough letter writers so he could have filled a full monthly comic sized issue with. Definitely Cerebus. Also, any letter column that told David Malcolm Porta to take his homophobic horseshite and stick it.

Did anyone here have a letter printed? I had one printed in West Coast Avengers #13. I think I had a second one printed somewhere (either in a letter WCA issue or in Avengers itself) but I can't recall where. WCA #13 was the first and the one that stuck with me. I never had a letter printed in a DC book, but I did write a handful. What did happen was that one day at university I got a letter in an envelope from DC and it was a typed note hand signed by Dick Giordano thanking me for my interest in DC books and for writing in to comment, and inviting me to try any new DC book I wanted-enclosed was a single dollar bill (the cover price for DC was $1 at the time) and write back to him with what I thought. I thought that was the coolest thing at the time, and was the second Giordano encounter I had making me think of him as one of the best people in comics. -M

Did anyone here have a letter printed? Not at any of the big publishers; but, I had one printed in Mike Grell's Bar Sinister, at the Valiant/Acclaim/Windjammer line and another printed in the indie comic Tales of the Bog (about the first issue). Had a few in the Comic Buyer's Guide. TM Maple even got an obituary, after he passed away. Another prominent one was Uncle Elvis Orten, who wrote in to a lot of John Ostrander's comics. Malcolm Bourne was a frequent poster in Grendel; I wanna say he popped up in Miracleman, too. Of course, the two most famous letter writers: Wendy Fletcher and Richard Pini, who met via the Silver Surfer letters page, married and gave birth to many elves.

Definitely Cerebus. Also, any letter column that told David Malcolm Porta to take his homophobic horseshite and stick it. That's the guy I was trying to remember! I seem to recall him being told off, in print, by both cat yronwode and Diana Schutz. Might be mixing the two, though.

I never read too many letters pages back in the old days. Either I was too busy or maybe I just thought they were all made up? But I do enjoy reading them in the Marvel Omnibus editions that include them now.
