kirby101 i'm confused are you going with the Sgt Fury Cover on the 1st Page or the Fantastic Four #84 here on the 2nd page instead? ... Could you clear that up for me? I was just showing the original cover for comparison. I have updated my post to make it clear and changed it from an image to a link. Okay. I got it.

Great topic! I started to post Tales of Suspense #15. But then I remembered this one!

So, Kirby as penciller alone is acceptable? Okay! Then I have to go with this obscure cover that you've probably never seen:

So here's what I did: I closed my eyes and asked "What's the first Kirby cover that you see in your head?" And it was this one: --- And I do really love this cover: the colors, the logo, the design, the costume, the copy, the composition, I love everything about it. And when I saw this advertised at tiny postage stamp size in DC comics of 1973, I wanted it SO bad!

It features the black and white art from the two unpublished issues of Kamandi - and one of them is a Sandman cross-over!

just to be clear...NOT AN ENTRY but one of my favorite Kirby covers was not from a comic but on a zine, the cover to Amazing Heroes #100, their Kirby tribute issue in the middle of the Kirby original art kerfuffle with Marvel in the 80s. This issue is what really turned me on to Kirby and served as my "Kirby 101" class giving me the info to start my exploration of his oeuvre... I wanted use this as my entry, but since it's not an actual comic, it wasn't technically eligible. -M

that was one of my favorite covers I had as a kid and I didn't even know who Kirby was at that point in time.
