I originally started reading Marvel comic books the month Avengers 100 came out. I think Amazing Spider-Man and FF were around issue 120 or 130 at the time. My reading goal right now is to read those titles from issue 1 up to where I first started picking them up. Beyond that, I want to start marching through the Bronze Age of those titles, while possibly expanding into other titles like maybe Cap and Thor.

Im becoming more and more bored with the new books from the dynamic duo, so my goal is to read the 70s at Marvel. Sorry to say but the majority of pre 80s DC is fairly poor, notwithstanding Legion, Jonah, and the odd anomaly. 70s Marvel is what turned me into the junkie I am, and I want to read big chunks of Cap, Thor, FF, Avengers, and the Horror books. Then theres Rom, MOKF, and Conan so the task is daunting.

I've slowed down a little with my goal of reading every Marvel comic from FF #1 onwards (except the crappy ones), but still I persist.

Is there a reading order posted somewhere you're using?

That and today I just started reading the Marvel Essentials trade collection Uncanny x Men volume 2. First time reading the Pheonix and Dark Pheonix stories for the first time in decades

Wow. How much have you read so far? I'm about 2/3 through 1965. I am in March of 1965 currently. I am reading most of it on Unlimited (though I have a good chunk of it collected in print somewhere, with the house room projects most of my stuff is packed away until I get the new comic room set up. As for reading order, I use the release calendar function of Unlimited and set it to the month and year I want. It lists the books in order of release that month. If you are trying to decide what you want to invest money into in terms of getting Masterworks, etc. you could look at trying Unlimited for a month (they often do a 1 month free trial, one such offer just ended) and sample a few issues of the serious you are curious about digitally, and then you can prioritize what you want to spend your money on acquiring Masterworks for, etc. Pretty much all the early Marvel Age stuff is available except some of the Millie type titles and some of the westerns. There are gaps though as you move forward (only 20 some odd issues of Sgt. Fury are available for instance, and chunks of late Silver/early Bronze DD are not available, but FF, Spidey, X-Men, Avengers, Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish, Strange Tales, etc. are all there in their entirety for the Silver Age and in some cases beyond. If you don't like the digital format, I understand, but if its a free month it's a tool available to you for free to make the decisions about what you want to get based on your actually sampling/previewing the material. -M

Love the snark there spike...well aware there are more than 2, but the quantity of quality titles, irrespective of publisher, is limited. My reality is also I prefer Superheroes Ive grown old with. I dislike most of Dynamites product, have limited interest in Dark Horse(Hellboyverse), like some hate some Image(tho they are the best overall alternative to the ONLY 2), dont like anthropomorphic books, and in general most of the other publishers have very amateurish work. Does that explain my personal preference well enough for you now.

I stated it somewhere else but I want to finish MOKF and Kamand. I'm around in the 40's in MOKF and the 30's in Kamandi.

I have read the majority of DC & Marvel's Silver/Bronze Age books. Trying to read stuff like Gold Key's Magnus & Solar. Charlton's Action Hero line. Archie Comics heroes revival in the 60's& 80's. Also any inexpensive Golden Age stuff I come across (mostly reprints).

I am also reading what DC and other publishers material I own concurrent with my Marvel reads. Ultimately I want to read everything I own that I haven't read or want to revisit over the next couple of years, and read what I want of what is available on Unlimited. I started about midway through last year with the chronological read through with the Buck Rogers material from 1929 I owned, and was into the late 1950s by year's end. I've reached up to '65 so far this year. I hope to reach the 1970s by year's end, but we will see. I have much more material from the 70s and 80s that I did of pre-1970 material.

I have list of runs that I am reading, but I generally get sidetracked every few days. Therefore, I am not nearly as far along as I would like to be. That said, I have gotten through about a third of what I wanted to read this year, at least from a numbers standpoint. It's been a lot of Batman and Swamp Thing so far. I want to keep up on those and throw in some Doc Savage and the Shadow. I'd like to add something else outside of my recent comfort zone. I may try and read a chunk of Daredevil.
