Really good stuff, guys! Listened to both parts on my drive from Pittsburgh to Baltimore this week, and it made the trip just fly by, as I was completely engrossed in the discussion. Never having read any of these (or, actually, even knowing this series existed before the review thread and these podcasts), I learned a lot on the PA Turnpike.
Loved the Christopher Moeller answer for underrated creator! He has done some of my all-time favorite Magic:The Gathering cards, including one that I will buy any copy of it I find. I've met him a couple of times, and while I've never discussed his comics work during those encounters, he's signed a good 50 cards for me that I still have in my collection.

First saw Moeller's art on the Innovation Rocketman, King of the Rocketmen adaptation, which is both lively and gorgeous. He's a storyteller first and foremost. Next was the first Iron Empires short story, from Dark Horse Presents, then the Faith Conquers mini-series. Then there was the Sheva's War, at DC's Helix imprint, as well as another short piece across a few issues of Caliber's Negative Burn. Along the way to that, there was the cover and interior illustrations he did for White Wolf, for their omnibus edition of Michael Moorcock's Nomad of the Timestreams novels (Warlord of the Air, The Land Leviathan, The Steel Tsar). Moeller does great sci-fi/military fiction and pretty darn good superhero work. However, the role playing world has been more of his bread and butter. Love to see more Iron Empires and wish someone would show it to Hollywood. Then again, they would probably muck it up.

Just got around to listening to both parts of the First Issue Special podcasts. Great stuff.
Kirby's Atlas just appeared and played a significant role in Mike Allred's Bug: Adventures of Forager mini for DC's Young Animal line (as well as stuff from Kirby's 70s Sandman book).
