Here's a fun site: thenostalgiamachine.com/Pick a year, and it gives you a page full of YouTube videos of the hits of that year.

Have been busy and haven't done this in a while. But it's birthday time for Johnny Hodges.

Within the past week I've managed to listen to all most the entirety of Dave Brockie's discography in chronological order. Which includes every GWAR studio album and the two studio records he did with The Dave Brockie Experience. (All of which I was able to find on youtube.) I was surprised by how versatile GWAR are as musicians. Sure lyrically there are quite a few dick and fart jokes but their musicianship is staggeringly impressive and not just within the genre of thrash punk. Sadly they may never be remembered for the quality of there music by the general public because of how over-the-top and controversial their stage shows were.
In this video for "The Road Behind" GWAR pokes fun at some of their peers as well as a sound that had become very common at the time. Ironically they sound far better here than many of their contemporaries.

With my 500th post here on the coolest board around, I felt like posting something from one of my favorite albums Welcome to the Pleasuredome from Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Sure, it encapsulates the 80s, but Trevor Horn created something so much more with this album. I have the US and the UK versions. Right off the bat, the band comes out guns a blazing.

One of my favorite bands: This is cool considering I live 40 minutes from Cayucos. Great to see it represented properly in the video. Strange video of the day goes to Broken Bells in "Holding On For Life" (got to love that Bee Gees sound in the chorus):
