Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1 Written by Kieron Gillen Art By Marco Checchetto Summary: Rebel pilot and rogue archaeologist wander side by side into the darkest shadows of the galaxy, one in search of a master, the other for her own fame and fortune but what will they find? Plot: I'm not usually big on crossovers, and I haven't been reading the Aphra solo book at all so I very nearly skipped this book but I'm glad I didn't. In most crossovers characterization is sacrificed for over the top action scenes, and in her own solo book Aphra came off as a tad vapid but here we get none of the usual spectacle and Aphra when contrasted against Luke's naivete she becomes as interesting as she was during days as a supporting role in Dart Vader. The interactions between Luke and Aphra are fun, and the plot with the Jedi artifact and the vampiric queen makes for a fun read. Art: Marco Checchetto has a quality to his work that fits perfectly in the Star Wars Universe; there's a smudgy, grungy, industrial look but also a soft, bright look of high fantasy which at it's heart is what Star Wars is a combination of. I think the best part though was the unique look Checcheto brought to the fashion sense of the character's clothing; I would totally wear a suit like the one they gave Luke! Grade:7/10

Written by Gerry Conway. Art and Cover by Ryan Stegman.
Part 2. X-Men. Magneto. Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. This crossover was fun. It convinced me I want to see more books set in this universe. I wouldn't mind an X-Men title and a Fantastic Four title. In fact I think the FF would be perfect in this universe.
Anyway back to this title. Things go the way you would expect but that's OK. This book is written to be fun not shocking or event driven. I really liked the interaction between Annie & Wolverine & Jeans' daughter.
Stegman's art was great as usual. There was more plotlines involved the Osborn family...Normie & Liz Allan. And the venom symbiote shows up at the end...
My Favorite Book This Week. 9/10.

Rocket #1Written by Al Ewing Art by Adam Gorham Summary: Rocket's mostly a hero on the up and up but when an old flame swims back into his life he's back in the game. Plot: Throwing Rocket into a wild crime adventure was really fun, as a Rocket book should be, and it's text based format gave it a really great unique, noir feel. Reading the text made me really hear Bradly Cooper in my head, they really nailed the snark he brought the character in the films and it was fun to feel that here. And further, having that voice there coupled with the feel of Richard Stark's Parker novels made me think that Cooper would actually make a great Parker. That said, the pacing is a bit slow and although I do like the classic heist plot it is a bit cliche(though I'm hoping that's something that Ewing plays against in the future) and I was hoping for more humor. Still, all in all this was fun. Art: Goram's art is fairly house style with nothing really to distinguish it from anything else but it's competent enough to tell the story. The one bright spot though is Rocket's suit, I don't know who decided he should wear a sharp suit but it looks fantastic. Grade:7/10

Wonder Woman#22: a waste of $3. I'm sure Rucka wrote this issue with developing more of the odd relationship between Wonder Woman and Veronica Cale, and at this point I don't care. The story opens in Las Vegas with Wonder Woman at a celebrity date auction. Cale outbids Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor for a date with a Wonder Woman. Not sure what the point of the issue was as it felt like filler until the big wrap up coming soon. Art was ok, nothing special. 0/10

Action 979: the title continues to impress as Lois and Clark decide to move back to Metropolis. The Revenge Squad moves closer to their plan and seem to wrap up their search for Squad members. The story had some nice moments: Lois concerned about their new home and how Clark will come and go as Superman unnoticed. They are worried about how Jon will adjust to city living. Superman making sure to remove his wedding band before heading out on a mission . Little touches like this remind us that Superman has to be extra careful now to protect his identity and family. Patrick Zircher delivers on the art with several splash pages throughout complemented by Hi-Fi's colors. There is an awesome panel that seems to be inspired by the Superman movies showing Clark running through an alley and changing to Superman. Great issue! 9/10

Titans #11: when I saw this was a crossover story, I was not that interested. However, if the others parts are as good as this one, I'm in! Deathstroke and Flash figure very prominently in this issue and I don't want to give away why Slade Wilson is after The Flash. We see some changes in continuity with the first encounter between Deathstroke and The Titans. There are some great character moments in the issue. Lilith exhibits some distrust at Nightwing. There is a funny scene between Tempest and the rest of the team. For me, the Titans haven't been this good in a long, long time. 9/10

Good write up here. Very idiotic story because of Celebrity Date Auction. How in the world that Cale out bid two of the world's wealthiest men ... Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor is beyond speechless. I get these for free from a friend and stopped reading it after this opening moronic segment.

This run started out great esp with Year One but Rucka seems to have lost interest at this point.

It was a great issue but I doubt I will buy the other issues in the crossover.

Great issue! 9/10 The alleyway scene coupled with the previous scene of Superman saving Lois from falling while hoisting the helicopter, they've picked some great homage shots during this story. I would say that roughly half this issue was just Clark & Lois discussing their impending move which was a very good thing. The depth of maturity of their discussion, the growth of their family as they discuss the pros and cons of such a move, it was all handled very well. As for the Revenge Squad, loved Mongul and his attitude here. But his final action after witnessing the rebirth of a classic villain coupled with who the Squad is looking to recruit next, wow, the danger and excitement factor just tripled. An excellent issue. 8/10

As for the issue itself, a very good start to this crossover. A flashback to set up this event, Slade enacts his plan by kidnapping Wally. As the Titans search, distrust is sowed when Lilith suspects that Dick is withholding valuable information. Wally tries to escape only to discover that Slade already has a backup plan. The Titans' firiendship is the heart of their team and Abnett does well in sowing seeds of doubt within that bond between Lilith and Dick (which looks painful and uncomfortable for both). How this may grow to affect the rest of the team is uncertain. Wally and Slade's interactions were great and the last page shot may have been worth the price of the issue alone. Booth, as ever, delivers kinetic energy alongside emotional drama. 8/10
As for the crossover itself, I've been catching up on Deathstroke's title. Also, based on references in other titles such as Super Sons, I've been wanting to try out Teen Titans so this seems like as good an opportunity as any, especially given this strong start to this arc.

X-Men Blue #3 - The O5 respond to an apparent attack upon a young female mutant by a group of Sentinels only to discover that the Sentinels are there to 'protect' her after the onset of her abilities caused damage and mayhem. While wary of this motive, the Sentinels take the team and the young mutant to meet their leader, a return of another classic X-villain.
After witnessing the extinction nearly caused by the Terrigen crisis, this foe now wants to 'help' mutants survive and has re-purposed this group of Sentinels to help him do just that. He offers the O5 a chance to join him on his mission, which the young mutant, feeling guilt over the chaos and damage she caused, initially takes him up on his offer. But then, using a nice twist of robotic logic, Hank discerns the foe's true motives, forcing Jean and the others to attack instead. However, the X-foe and his Sentinels refuse to fight them and escape instead to carry on their new 'mission'. Heartbroken, the young girl is offered a chance at Kitty's school by a consoling Jean.
Bunn offers up an interesting drama as an analogy here, the X-foe's offer to join him on what seems to be an ideal venture, the young girl's reasoning for why she wants to initially, it echoes and parallels the team's own deal with Magneto. The outcome supports the doubts they are having about working with their former foe. Bunn's choice of this foe to make such an offer is quite interesting and I hope to see him and his group of Sentinels again at some point (C'mon, a color-coded group of Sentinels ala Power Ranger-ish with their own unique power set, why haven't we had this before now? Brilliant). Molina's art captures well the action and youthful indecision on display here.
So far, this is the best X-title of the relaunch. 9/10
