I heard this question asked on a podcast. What hero would you like to see as a villain? And Vice Versa

I just now finished reading Infamous Iron-Man #1. Dr. Doom is the new Iron Man, the only trouble is that the character is not the personality of Victor Von Doom. Doom in name only.

There is an old issue of the Flash (#244) where the Rogues commit a series of crimes to find these explosive discs, left behind by The Top, as a doomsday device, after his death. The problem is that they have to be put together in a specific sequence to deactivate them and time is running out. It was a nice change of pace to see the Rogues acting to stop a crime, rather than committing one (though they do commit crimes, for the greater good). I wouldn't mind more of that kind of thing. Suicide Squad was pretty good for putting villains in situations like that and actually turned Deadshot into a sort of hero (well, compared to Capt. Boomerang).
I haven't really got a hero I'd like to see as a villain. Most ended up with an opposite number that accomplished that.

The first hero that popped into my head, no longer being worthy, and pretty upset about it, is Odinson, siding with his half-brother Loki as a partner to stage a coup d'etat Kind of a weird 70's character, but Terra-Man could be revised with a serious bent but from a hero vantage who picks up earth's transmitted signals of old westerns and patterns himself based on that input. Feeling he's a man born in the wrong place at the wrong time, he finds his way to earth and becomes the sheriff who's going to clean up this planet, in an old west hard justice way, sort of like the Punisher except an alien based on Old West culture

Always thought it would be cool to see lonely genius scientist Lex Luthor working to protect Metropolis from all-powerful alien invaders.

Always thought it would be cool to see lonely genius scientist Lex Luthor working to protect Metropolis from all-powerful alien invaders. Lex has been a good guy for a while now.. They just did a storyline in Action where aliens come and kidnap Lex because of crimes he might commit in the future, and Superman has to go save him. It's called 'Men of Steel' and ran in Action 967 - 972.. not sure how the trades are running. I think the whole 'Doom as a hero' thing could have worked, if they wrote him in a way that remoted resembled his previous self. Granted, after Secret Wars, he can be whatever and it makes sense in world, but it's not the same. I feel like most heroes have acted like villains at one time or another recently, so that part is hard to answer.

Oh, huh. I am behind on Superman - The library has the trades and SOMEDAY I will get caught up!
The last New 52 JLA collection I read had Luthor and Captain Cold as Justice Leaguers, which I thought was cool.
I'd also wouldn't mind chaotic good Joker vs. lawful Evil Batman, or super-gorilla vs. evil running guy, or the God of War must protect mankind from amazon spies. Weirdly, those jerks at Marvel stole my idea and did a "villain and heroes switch places" mini-series. But it would have worked so much better with DC characters, as a riff on the Crime Syndicate.

To be fair, Marvel did that years ago (1968) with Daredevil and Doctor Doom, in issues 37 and 39 of DD.

Martian Manhunter would make a formidable villain with his mental abilities and power of disguise.
Riddler as a hero would be interesting--he is very clever and would be interesting to see him use his abilities for good.

I vaguely remember reading about a comic where the Riddler opens a private detective agency and teams up with Batman to solve a mystery. Never read the comic itself though, so I could be wrong.

I would say this ... Marvel's Black Panther would make an excellent SuperVillain because of his wealth, skills, resources, and his knack of using the terrain to his advantages.
For a villain, to be a SuperHero ... I would say this I think Doctor Octopus with his multitude of arms and skills set would make an excellent choice for a variety of reasons.

This is great! Tough thinking about one that hasn't been a What If, Doom as the Sorceror Supreme, etc. If Sue Storm ever broke bad she would be bone chillingly frightening I think... Professor Hulk as well, but that's essentially the Maestro so that doesn't count. The Joker as a maniacal light of justice? Or is that The Creeper?

She was Malice and she was nasty. I Forget the issues.

Took me awhile to actually think of the answer to my own question. But i think Spiderman being evil would be interesting and having Dr Octopus as Dr Octopus and not disguised as Spiderman as a good guy would be quite entertaining.
