Rai- History Of The Valiant Universe #1: Little more than a clip-show of what's happened since nu-Valiant started, it was still a very interesting read considering that it was imparted to Rai as if it were something from the fabled Book Of Geomancer. There was also two teasers, one for a new event, Faith & The Future Force and a new on-going; War Mother #1, which made me very very happy

Action 981: things get worse for Superman after his time in the Black Vault. Something catastrophic happens to him, leaving him unable to fight the combined threat of Zod, Eradicator, and Cyborg Superman. Slowly getting to the full Revenge Squad and I hope Superman is able to whip them! The art was good! I wasn't familiar with Herbert's art, but is is a pleasant surprise. Kind of mixture of classic and modern art. It's not showy or gimmick ridden, just classic, clean, and easy to follow. Hope he sticks around! 8/10

Betty and Veronica #3: Wow, a year later and we finally get #3--which seems to the final issue for now? Despite the length between issues, I really enjoyed this wrap up. I wish Adam Hughes could meet his deadlines as he seems to "get" Betty and Veronica. I loved the big reveal/twist and a glimpse into how the girls' friendship works. The art is very detailed--in some panels, even life-like. I did not care for the washed out colors and can't help but wonder how a brighter palette would've really enhanced the story. 8.5/10

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Kenneth Rocafort.
The aftermath of the Lazarus Contract & the Fearsome Five conflict. Omen is the star in a strong issue when she confronts Psimon in prison to find out where Karen's stolen memories were sent. Also a lot of interpersonal drama among the team.
I look forward to see where all of it leads in future issues. More hints of Donna Troy's struggles from the revelations in the Annual.
Another great issue by Abnett with beautiful art by Rocafort. I remember when he debuted at Top Cow. I like his unique style.
8/10. Lilith was terrific here as she fakes out Psimon. The new dramas erupting between the various members are very interesting in their nature and diversity. My only caveat - I usually like Rocafort's work but here, Wally looks like a teenager again which was off-putting. 8/10

This was an exciting read from Zod's dimissal of Henshaw's manner and goals in lieu of his own personal goals to their subsequent near-takedown of Superman. As for why they were nearly able to do so, an interesting twist which was subtly hinted at throughout this issue via the excellent art and the tone of Superman's narration boxes, very well done indeed. Still though, I think they could've chosen a better angle for the shot of Superman after the Vault exploded. Him laying there face down in the crater with his butt sticking up in the air for Waller to see, not exactly the most inspiring depiction I've seen of our hero. 8/10

8/10. The COVER is great, I don't think the issue was particularly great though, Rocafort tends to be less exciting on interiors. I'm not liking the direction of the plot, though.. the Titans shouldn't be about internal strife.

Any Good? seems a bit silly, since any one member of the Justice League should be able to take out that whole team.

Gotham Academy #10
Plot: Olive is still possessed, but it comes and goes. She goes to kill Two-Face, but he manages to point her at Penguin instead. Meanwhile, Maps is still awesome as the remaining member of Detective Club try to find a way to help her.
The stuff with the bat villains is terrible... no idea who thought that was a good idea.. they look weird in the Gotham Academy style, and the plot makes very little sense.. why do they all know exactly who Olive is? It's very silly.
OTOH, the character beats were great... I really wish DC would just make this a legit manga-style and continue it that way in it's only little pocket Gotham. As is, I guess the best we can hope for is Maps ends up as a supporting character in Supersons or something.
6/10

I liked his art the first time I saw it on Hunter-Killer at Top Cow. As far as the plot I'm OK with it...for now. I suspect Abnett will NOT drag out the plot too long. After all one of the selling points of the book is the friendship between the team. Take that away & they are just another generic superhero team.

Bugs Bunny/Legion Special Set in the old continuity (sorta) after the Great Darkness Saga, Brainiac 5 figures out he needs Illudium Phosdex (the Shaving Cream Atom from the original Duck Dodgers) to save Supergirl. Since it was last seen in the 24th 1/2 century, he sends Computo 2 to go get Superboy. This Computo is programmed for love, so it won't turn evil, but somehow it ends up with Bugs instead. While the art style is DC for this main story (all the DC/Looney Tunes books that I have are split into a main story in the DC style and a back up in Looney Tunes style), it's very much simply 'Bugs Bunny meets the Legion'. the bad guy's weapon is Angst.. they use Editoral notes to break the 4th wall, and get alot of the classic Bugs Bunny bits in... even do the 'Yes I will, No I won't' bit with Ultra Boy as the 'victim', Pretty fun if you're a Bugs fan for sure. Pretty good, but I can't help but think it would have been better if they actually used Duck Dodgers, instead of just a quick reference. The back up, though was simply a quick recap in Looney Tunes style, which was totally not worth it. 6/10 Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam was a much more serious tone... Sam hits it big, and after barely surviving getting betrayed by his partners, hires Jonah Hex to help guard his claim. He also saves the life of Foghorn Leghorn (who is his usual giant rooster self, but they make it fit, he's a circus freak), who promises to return the favor. The evil circus owner decides to try to jump the claim, and Leghorn just warns Sam and Hex in time to pe prepared for the overwelming battle. Funny how this was just about the opposite of the other... it was totally straight... a Jonah Hex story that just happened to have Sam in it.. the only Looney Tunes reference (besides Sam's dialogue) was Sam talking about how he was an expert rabbit hunter in his younger days. The back up(again, in Looney Tunes style) this time was an actual story, with Sam again meeting Hex while both were hunting the same bear. Bugs Bunny turns up and helps Hex get'em. I enjoyed this one alot more than the Legion one, it just worked alot better. 8/10

Ms. Marvel #19 After like 6 months of dealing with tie ins to other titles, we get back to the arc started in Civil War II (and perhaps one that ties in with Secret Empire).. the Mayoral candidate from Hydra, and Becky (who was the teen superhero that took Captain Marvel's side) have totally taken over Jersey City and are demanding Superheroes register. Kamala finds out after a holiday celebration and goes to kick butt, but gets captured. Meanwhile, the bad guys (who have a cool organization acronym.. K.I.N.D) decide her brother has superpowers, rough him up, and take him in. To be continued! Good issue.. nice to see the titl get back on track after cross over issues and the Bruno one off (which was good, but totally could have been a one shot of it's own) 9/10
