I agree that Queen were a (pretty great, in my book) pop band first and foremost, but their first two albums were quite heavy, at least on some tracks. I love those two, and really all their records up to and including News of the World. After that, their albums became inconsistent, though there were some very good individual tracks here and there.

Although Courtney Love is credited with helping made LSD the weapon of choice amongst Liverpool's early 80s psychedelic bands and record labels which went on to influence Stone Roses. A tough tough stretch tho

Note to self: Devise conspiracy theory whereby Julian Cope killed Kurt Cobain.

We don't need to hear about your marital problems here, ironchimp.
Perhaps the "Meanwhile ..." thread?

Julian Cope picked a bunch of tracks for the BBC program The Freakier Zone this week. It's still available for listening on their webpage for the next few days. And he also has a novel coming out that he's even written music for.

Is that weird that I like this much more than Lorde's original song?

I have no idea who or what Lorde is. Also it's perfectly logical to enjoy Weird Al's genius over some of the the dreck that he parodies.

Lorde ... isn't that what Madonna named her daughter? Is that who we're talking about?

Lorde ... isn't that what Madonna named her daughter? Is that who we're talking about? At first I just thought people were misspelling Lordi.
