Syfy released a teaser for their upcoming series Kryton which debuts in 2018. The series takes place 200 years before the present and follows the story of Superman's grandfather as a young man. I think it's unfortunate that this series is set in the same universe as the Man of Steel film but I still plan to check out the first episode.

Well it looks more promising than some other super hero shows out there...but I suppose that isn't saying much.

I liked Man of Steel and am looking forward to this as well.

From talking to a friend of mine this is going to be excellent (in some degree) and it's really captured many of the mythologies of Superman's ancestors and that alone makes it compelling to watch and to those who knows Superman quite well (in terms of history and folklore) this series that you'll enjoy watching.
I'm eager to see this ... It's might be better than Supergirl as one other friend that mentioned that.

Saw this tweet about this series and it just seems to fit so well:
edit: it just seems to hide the URL for me?
Plain text then..: Todd VanDerWerff @tvoti
"David S. Goyer also came SO CLOSE to literally saying, “Everybody knows Krypton blows up. What this story presupposes is, maybe it didn’t?”"

I enjoyed this more than Smallville and Man of Steel. I really dig the design of Brainiac in this and was pleased to see it's mostly practical special effects makeup. There's quite a bit of world building in the pilot and surprisingly I enjoyed the CGI. Will have to watch a couple more episodes to see if I stick with this.

I enjoyed the pilot episode today (recorded off my DVR) and I find this show quite promising and well made - the acting is quite good and overall and design of it - is well made and better than the Man of Steel and on par with Smallville. I echoed Jesse above statements and this might be the only show worth watching for me.

I watched the first episode and liked it. The forbidden romance between an El and a Zod was quite a twist! The acting, effects, and tone are all good. I watched the featurette about the show too. Seems like the producers and crew are being very respectful of Superman and want to get this right. They all seemed in awe of the concept. I will keep watching. Liked seeing Adam Strange and very cool he had Superman's cape to show Seg-El.

I watched the second episode last night and it was good. Lots of stuff going on with Lyta Zod. Seg-El learns Adam Strange is telling him the truth as more is revealed about Brainiac. Very interesting too that Krypton is not an idyllic place. If one is rankless, they are pretty much scum of the earth--and that creepy person in charge with the gold heads...yikes, haha! Enjoyed the scenes with Seg-El and his grandfather. One thing about the show is sometimes I have trouble understanding what the actors are saying due to their thick accents. A minor thing, very much enjoying Krypton!

I have trouble understanding what the actors are saying due to their thick accents. A minor thing, very much enjoying Krypton! I know ... some of my friends were forced to watch it with Closed Captioning because of their accents ... and I've visited my LCS yesterday and that's a big complaints about this show and that's turning off some of the people that go to my store. When, I told them ... they wished they had done that in the first place. Haven't seen the 2nd show yet ...
