I also had Marvel Double Feature #11 with a August 1975 cover... and Defenders #29 dated Nov 1975, my first encounter with Dr. Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy... all of these were purchased during that summer of '75 as I found them on the racks that summer, so hard ot pick which was first, but these were my first Marvel Comics for the most part. -M

1st Marvel: Amazing Spider-Man.
1st DC: World's Finest.
Can't remember the exact issues. It would have been 50 yrs ago.

Hard to recall. It was from a neighbor. I believe it either would have been Fantastic Four or Captain America. This was the first I ever owned... Given to me by a friend or relative, while in the hospital, with a hernia (at age 7!) It was summer, too, so I didn't miss any school! I remember coming out of the anaesthesia, in my room, with my parents watching tv, telling me that Nixon had resigned.

it was this, at age 7, purchased at a train station. and for once, the claims of adults trying to sell things to kids bore true. compared to every other comic on the spinner rack, these heroes yet not accepted as heroes were all new, all different, compared to every other mag on the rack, even just from their design/cockrum's style, on the cover. designs which were far far exotic. and for once the interiors backed up the promise of the cover. the whole 'old x-men vs new' tripped me out, even though i had no idea whom these people were. but i cared about them instantly, and for over a decade afterwards,

On the recommendation of my best friend at the age of 12... I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

On the recommendation of my best friend at the age of 12... I had absolutely no idea what was going on. This is why I dropped the X-men book after issue # 200, too many subplots and backstories to keep track of. Sorry, I always felt Claremont was overrated.

Claremont was amazing...until around issue #200 We're in agreement in that respect.
