First DC comic I ever read....it was either Justice League of America 149, Teen Titans 48, or Batman Family #16. Hard to remember!

I must add that though I read comics sporadically through out the 60s, there is one comic that changed everything. After that I became an avid comic fan, reader and collector. There is a defining line before and after this book for me. You, sir, are a man of great taste.

But... but... That was published, like, two years ago, right? Right? WHERE HAS MY LIFE GONE??? Everytime I feel old, a thread like this one really helps me out. Nice to be the baby of this community 😆 Hey, if YOU'RE the baby, then what are Pharozonk and I? The fetuses? The embryos? :-P (I actually really like Uncanny X-Men #275. The contrast between the Savage Land and Shi'ar stories was nice, the team line-up had a fun dynamic, and Magneto made a convincing return to villainy.) Anyway, my first comic was not too far off from that in terms of time; Transformers #26. I liked it more for the funeral for Optimus Prime than for the featured villain, who was not a Decepticon, but rather a human with mad engineering skills. But they soon made up for it by having Trypticon fight the Dinobots.

My first DC comic would've been Batman Pocketbook #1, which was a 100 page, digest-sized reprint comic from 1979... I was already familiar with Batman and Superman from re-runs of the 1966 Batman TV show, the George Reeves Superman TV show, the Christopher Reeve Superman movie and the Super-Friends cartoon. But in terms of actually reading a DC comic, this was it.

That may be my favorite Bronze Age issue of Superman, largely because of the exquisite Garcia-Lopez art. S for my first DC comic, I can't recall a specific issue, as I was already looking at comics before I learned to read at age 3. The first DC I remember adding to my little collection, though, was Batman Annual #7 starring The Batman Family. Cei-U! I summon the surprising admission from a die-hard Swan fan!

I was a little kid in the very early 1980s so I dont remember exactly what my "first" Marvel Comics comic was.
I was pretty much reading whatever was around at the time from Conan, Groo, Alpha Flight, Power Pack, Red Sonja movie adaptation and Iron Man which i do remember having an issue of Iron Man back then but I dont remember what exact issue it was. All I remember was that I used scissors to cut out characters from the issue of Iron man. Dont ask me why I did that when I was a little kid. All little kids do weird stuff like that even in the 1980s

One of the earliest Marvel comics I read was this issue of Marvel Comics Presents which I still own. I remember picking it up because it had Wolverine on the cover and it made me want to read more comics featuring the X-Men. Today I still love the front and back covers. The first Spider-Man comics I read were Marvel Tales reprints of Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5 and Amazing Spider-Man #252 The first actual X-Men comics I read were also reprints of Chris Claremont's Uncanny X-Men run. My introduction to Avengers comics was actually an issue of West Coast Avengers. I was confused the first time I read a Fantastic Four comic because Ben Grimm wasn't The Thing like he was in the old cartoons.

Marvel Tales #13 (for the full story around this issue, see me in November on the 50 Years Ago thread)
First DC (that i remember): Tomahawk #115, which would be actually the 100th comic i had (once again, see the 50 Yr thread early next year)

Anyone else who got into comics in the 80's (or later) envious of the members who's first comics were classic Silver and Bronze Age issues? Showcase #22? Conan #1? Rub it in why don't you! I have this fear now that I'm going to learn that my first comic was Crystar or something...
