I've come to realize that I've read a depressingly small amount of horror comics for someone who is a huge fan of the genre.

I have written down at least a dozen ideas of comics I own offhand. I'm sure there will be least 1 or 2 super hero related ones and a couple out of the box

I think one thing I'm going to enjoy most about this event is that the horror genre doesn't really have that established canon of "great" works that you find in the superhero genre. There is no Watchmen of horror; the great stories are still largely unrecognized in the modern age. That makes creating these lists both more difficult and more liberating, as there is no body of work that you're more or less expected to have read in order to have an opinion. Any given back issue could prove to be the greatest horror story ever written; everyone has an equal chance of uncovering something amazing on their list.

Narrowing down my choices, I might not even go with any superhero works. I'm fine with that....

If I really wanted to, &/or felt the need to because of lack of possible candidates, I could probably make a case (with myself, if not necessarily successfully with the iron tyrant shax) for one superhero story & one quasi-superhero story (Marvel horror character from the '70s boom). I don't anticipate that happening, though I'll certainly mention them as honorable mentions later. I'll be interested to see if anyone buys the first one, in particular, as eligible.

I'm considering having a thread for everyone to post their runner-ups prior to the countdown.
What do you guys think?

I'm considering having a thread for everyone to post their runner-ups prior to the countdown. What do you guys think? I'm alright with that. Kurt usually has a Post-Christmas thread where he posts our lists and we usually talk about our runner-ups

I'm considering having a thread for everyone to post their runner-ups prior to the countdown. What do you guys think? Depends on how settled people are on their choices, I guess. I anticipate no second- or third-guessing of my picks, especially with so few involved. OTOH, with the Christmas lists, more than once I've swerved on a pick at some point during the 12 days; if we'd listed those anticipated runners-up beforehand, I'd presumably have deprived myself of those options.

I like after better too (gives me more time to actually come up with my selections as time is crushing me right now).

I'm considering having a thread for everyone to post their runner-ups prior to the countdown. What do you guys think? I've still only chosen four, I'm sure I'll have a fifth when the time comes. But reading the past several posts about including super hero stories has one runner up in mind for me.
