Purchased off the spinner rack...
Adventure 447
All-Star 62
Brave & Bold 129
DC Super-Stars 7 (I really don't know why I bought this. The price was prohibitive for me at the time).
Defenders 39
Detective 463
Flash 244
Hulk 203
Joker 9
JLA 134
Lone Ranger 26
Marvel Tales 71
Marvel Team-up 49
That was a huge month for me at the time. Not sure why or where all the money came from.

My large amount of purchases would be because of a long car trip to Disney World.

In June 1976 I bought: Adventure Comics #447 (Aparo Aquaman, no hesitations) All-Star Comics #62 (Die-hard JSA fan!) Brave and the Bold #129 (More Aparo, but I was getting a little tired of guest star Green Arrow, and cover crediting Two-Face, Joker, and the Atom seemed to violate the "rules" of B&B for some reason) Captain America #201 (On board with Kirby's return to Cap!) DC Super Stars #7 (More Aquaman, Aparo cover) Defenders #39 (Never missed it!) Doc Savage #5 (Still on the Doc Savage bandwagon, and the B&W's felt much more authentic to the pulps) Eternals #3 (Really dug Kirby's new series) Freedom Fighters #4 (Sucker for superteams, even lousy ones like this) Howard the Duck #5 (I would stick it out, but Howard wasn't as good as I wanted it to be) Joker #9 (Loved seeing this villain get his own series, but it was not to continue, alas) Marvel Treasury Special Featuring Captain America's Bicentennial Battles #1 (Giant Kirby action!) Marvel Two-in-One Annual #1 (Bought this only for the Liberty Legion) Nova #1 (Couldn't resist a new Marvel superhero, but it didn't keep me long) Omega the Unknown #4 (Its weirdness was right up my alley, even with rather lame Mooney art) Planet of the Apes #23 (I would not be shaken from my love for POTA!) Plop #23 (Sticking with it, but it was not what it used to be) Secret Society of Super-Villains #3 (Again, super-villains in their own series? Cool!) Skull the Slayer #7 (Inconsistent but fascinating, I stuck with this all the way) Tomb of Dracula #48 (Consistently the best comic I was reading at the time).
The Chan Count: Ernie (Chua) Chan is credited cover penciller for 17 of DC's covers this month (out of 26, or 65%), and inker only for one additional comic. As usual, I believe he had a strong hand in others, particularly the Action 463 cover credited to Oksner.

My folks must have thought I had gotten enough comics the month before to last for a while, the only book I had as a kid from this month was Marvel Adventure featuring Daredevil #6...yes the only comic I got was a reprint of the Mike Murdoch era of Daredevil featuring Stiltman....

Bought when they were new:
Action Comics #464 - The Purple Piledriver may be the worst Superman villain ever. To be fair, the writer seems to know this, and has Superman basically brush him off with minimal effort on his way to something more important. Avengers #152 - The pointless and arbitrary nature of the Comics Code can be summed up by the fact that "zombies" were forbidden, but "zuvembies" were perfectly ok. Brave and the Bold #130 Daredevil #138 - You know, I don't think I ever did track down the conclusion to this story in Ghost Rider. Gosh, I hope DD didn't get killed... Daredevil Annual #4 - These annuals are usually just a more padded version of a regular issue, but Claremont takes advantage of the extra pages to weave a fairly complex story involving DD, Black Panther, and Sub-Mariner. Although at one point, he does resort to having some random thug acquire super-powers for approximately two pages, just to keep the action going. DC Super Stars #8 Defenders #40 Fantastic Four #175 Green Lantern #91 Incredible Hulk #204 Incredible Hulk Annual #5 - The old Atlas-era monsters are usually played for camp value these days, but this story treats them deadly seriously, and it's actually pretty effective. Invaders #9 - The Brother Blood storyline was a real highlight of the series. Super-creepy and intense. Isis #1 - One of those hard-luck series that nobody can seem to get a handle on. They tried to add interesting villains and flesh out the characters, but the result was just blah. Admittedly, they didn't have much to work with (hey, I dig Joanna Cameron in a miniskirt as much as the next guy, but let's be honest...). Justice League of America #135 Limited Collectors' Edition C-48 Limited Collectors' Edition C-49 Marvel Two-in-One #20 Metal Men #48 Plastic Man #15 Secret Origins of the Super DC Heroes SC Super DC Giant #27 - Always enjoyed these off-beat "themed" reprint anthologies. Super-Team Family #7 Superboy #220 Superman #304 Superman Family #179 Wonder Woman #226 World's Finest Comics #241 - Earth's been destroyed? No problem, Superman can make a new one from scratch. I still remember that crazy panel showing his grotesquely-inflated chest as he carries a new atmosphere for the planet in his super-lungs.
Bought as back issues:
Charlton Bullseye #5 - Alex Toth draws the Question. 'Nuff said. Doctor Strange #19 Hercules Unbound #7 Marvel Chillers #7 Marvel Presents #7 Marvel Preview #7 Master of Kung Fu #45 Starfire #2 Super-Villain Team-Up #8 Tomb of Dracula #49
