Oh yeah, I keep meaning to track that series down. Has it been collected? If I remember right, Roy Thomas had to fight to bring back the Impossible Man, as Stan Lee remembered fans absolutely hating him the first time. Conversely, here is a review of Marvel Two-In-One that cites the impossible Man issue as "the best of the whole [one hundred issue] series." I don't believe it's been collected. -M

The Impossible Man - yeah one of those "can-do-anything" characters. I don't like them either, usually. Dr Druid I don't know much about but I like the name and the more supernatural characters the better, in my book. They should have written him like an ancient Druid: his go-to tactic whenever the Avengers get in trouble is ... human sacrifice! "No, Druid, we're not going to sacrifice anybody. Stop saying that, it's not going to help!" "But you won't even try!" There's a 4 issue Druid mini-series from the 90s by Warren Ellis and Leonardo Manco that takes Druid back to ancient roots and sacrifice. I also liked Druid teamed with Ulysses Bloodstone as part of the Monster Hunters in issues 4-7 of the short lived Marvel Universe title in the 90's.. Roger Stern wrote the arc with art by Mike Manley and a jam cover on #4 featuring many of the Marvel Monsters. -M Leave it to Ellis! Thanks, I might want to read both of those, depending on the artwork. The Ellis one almost for sure; the Monster Hunters, I'm a bit more cautious about trying - I like the sound of the concept, but not sure about the creative team.

Thanos.
A Darksied rip-off with a really lame motivation ("I want to kill everyone in the universe"). Only these days he is somehow so powerful that he cannot be beaten, so every story consists of his kicking the ass of everything in the Marvel Universe, then deciding that he doesn't want to win for some reason. I don't know why the heroes in the MU don't just go and get coffee whenever Thanos shows up and wait for him to defeat himself. It would save them getting beaten up.

And since I've chimed in about Thanos, I might as well mention my other "I absolutely hate"s: The Punisher, Mantis, The Black Cat, the post-Crisis Luthor, and every costumed kid sidekick every conceived.
Cei-U! I summon the anathema!

When comic books try & be too "realistic". Really? Realism in a medium where people dress up in costumes to fight evil? I read comics for escapism. If I want "realism" I can watch the news.

It's patently unfair, I suppose, because I never read a page of anything that included him as a character, but I absolutely hate the look, the "sound," the concept, and the very presence of Lobo.
Ditto "Bwah-Hah-Ha!"
Also Hex.

As anyone who has been here for more than a couple of months knows, I despise the Silver/Bronze Age Superman.

Whatever it was that "bland-ized" the coloring on DC's covers. Random comparison between 1965, when a yellow background was a stand-out, and 1980, when it was a wash-out.
