Some books have stood the test of time for me. You know, those titles that you read as a kid and have continued to read throughout this journey called Life. Of course, there are also titles/characters that I no longer like. However, in terms of titles that I continue to enjoy, teams like the Avengers and Defenders...I still feel the same way about them as I did when I was a young kid. I reread their books and enjoy them just as much. But, in the case of Avengers, despite how much I like the comic book, I cannot stand the movies. I just don't like the movies and will never pay to watch one again. Anyone feel the same way...love(or like) the books, but not a fan of the films.

I'll chime in on this one - I love Swamp Thing and when they made a movie of it and I was very disappointed seeing Swamp Thing (1982) and the sequel The Return of Swamp Thing (1989) even when they had both Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson writing it and did not have the appeal of the Comic Book itself. Dick Durock wasn't all that bad; but he's doesn't scream to me as Swamp Thing at all and I felt that the movies weren't up to par and I haven't seen the television series as well. It was a disappointment that the movie had to much lighting and not enough suspense and drama in it. It's bothers me a lot and still does.

I haven't really liked any of the Spider-Man movies. They're not all bad movies, but the on-screen versions have never felt like Spider-Man to me. I have not yet seen the new one though.

I pretty much feel this way about all the superhero movies. I think the Batman films are the most disappointing to me as a fan, because what I really want is a live-action version of BTAS. I feel that the vast majority of film and TV creatives who've worked with the character either don't understand the character or have a very superficial appreciation, often fixating on one or two aspects of the mythos. I never liked the Rami Spider-Man films for much the same reason.
Overall I've enjoyed the tone of the Marvel films, but rarely do the characters feel the same to me as a comics fan. The only exceptions so far have been Captain America and Wonder Woman. Of course the classic example is Christopher's Reeve's brilliant take on Superman/Clark Kent, which I still think is the best version of that character in film or comics.

I grew up reading mostly DC characters. If you'd told me when I was a kid that there was going to be a movie with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, I'd have lost my mind. If you'd gone on to tell me that I wouldn't even bother going to see it at the cinema, I'd have thought you'd lost yours.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen From Hell -M Watchmen. How a movie could use the comic practically as storyboards, yet still miss the entire point of the story, is beyond me. Yet Zack Snyder managed to do it.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen From Hell -M It's late, I'm tired, and I had to glance at that twice to see that it was two separate titles.

I loved the First Avengers movie and I felt Watchmen was great also. I always separate the movies from the source material. I never expect the movies to duplicate the comics and thus I'm not disappointed.

Three words: Howard. The. Duck. Followed in 2005 by another loogie spat on the legacy of Steve Gerber, the execrable Man-Thing movie. These two "films" featuring the Duck and the Muck respectively probably contributed more to Gerber's early demise than his smoking.
