LOL, these contests always go A certain way EVERY week...just sayin'. I would love to see an ANONYMOUS submission here where the actual poster's cover (username) is NOT revealed until AFTER the vote count is tallied!

seriously, I'm asking a real question.

there's no cash prize, there's no "real" prize of any kind.

who really gives a hoot if one wins or not (I rarely even get 1 vote. . the past several weeks I've had NO votes).
but I got to post a cover i enjoyed sharing, and that's all the contest is about.

you are going to ruin the "fun" for everyone by complaining, because I'm sure it's way easier for Mods to say "fine, we won't do the contest at all, it's not worth the headaches" than it is for them to do "anonymous" postings, because some folks are *convinced* there's a clique that only votes for their friends.

I mean.. how DARE they not vote for the cover that *I* deem is the best.


it's in fun.  Why can't you just have fun and enjoy sharing a cover you think met the challenge?

Since proboards has no way to allow anonymous posting (it would be a spammers' field day if they did), someone would have to collect everyone's entry each week via PM and repost them to the contest thread each week in a post that had all the covers and no names. It would be a shit ton of work for that person and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It is enough work just going through and tallying all the votes once a week and contacting winners (I did if for the first year plus we were here after moving form the old place) and even that drained all the fun out of the contest for me after a while. ICC puts a ton of work in keeping track of the winning covers already in the hall of fame thread, and more power to him for doing it.

And honestly if one person had to that kind of work, I'd feel bad heaping more on them by entering and voting and would elect to just not participate. Part of the fun is seeing who came up with what and learning about fellow posters tastes as well as seeing great covers. After doing this for 5 years between here and the old place, I'm sad to say the contest at the old place has a lot less whining and complaining about voting and better sense of community among the participants than this one does now, and that is just a sad statement on the state of things.
