Anyone see the trailer for the 'Tales of the Shire' videogame? I guess it's like a Tolkien version of Animal Crossing. That game was practically made just with me in mind! Animal Crossing is probably my favorite game franchise next to Zelda and I have always wanted to live in the Shire. That's a must buy for me. |

Echoing what I just said in another thread about a Marvel event-this isn't for me, but if others like it and enjoy it, glad for them and happy it's out there for them to enjoy. I have plenty of other things I am interested in and will spend money and time on. And if it piques people's interest in Middle Earth and Tolkien, so much the better. Everyone has to start somewhere, my first exposure was the Rankin Bass animated movie when it was on broadcast television and I found the Hobbit Ina library a year or two after that when I was in Jr, high.

This trailer dropped today... -M I'm a bit surprised that the animation looks so generic - the same kind of look you see in a lot of other animated movies. With Jackson's name attached, I had been thinking it might be a little more stylised or individual, something tailored to his vision of Tolkien's Middle-Earth. Of course it's possible that this is his vision - but, if so, it's quite a coincidence that it looks so much like a thousand other animated adventure films. |

And although it does look like a generic anime art style the voice acting seemed solid and the story of Helm Hammerhand is an interesting bit of Tolkien lore so I'll probably check this out. What is interesting(though perhaps not unsurprising given the way Eowyn's character was expanded upon in the films) is that Helm's unnamed daughter seems to take center stage here. |

As a kid I had a CD with nothing but Greg Hildebrandt paintings based on Tolkein's work that I loved to death, and while I don't like all his interpretations as an adult his art was definitely a huge part of my life and I'll miss him.  RIP Greg Hildebrandt |
