I went thru a short "completist" phase, where I HAD to buy everything that Marvel & DC put out except war, western and romance books. After only a few months, the lameness of Murray Boltinoff's "horror" books got to me, and I snapped out of it and stopped buying things I didn't like. And I never even started buying the Eerie Publications magazines. I bought Warren and Skywald, and I looked thru several of Eerie's mags on different occasions, and could never bring myself to spend money on them.

Ehhh...I've bought comics (and particularly trades) that I haven't gotten around to reading. I definitely mean too. On the other hand, I haven't purchased a floppy in almost a decade. I have a lot of them hanging around and I'd probably get rid of them but it's a hassle. I'm worse with paperback SF and pulp novels. But I do limit myself.
But I definitely don't buy anything I don't ever intend to read.

Yeah. Along with comics, I've got tons (probably all too literally) of books I haven't read, records, tapes & CDs I've never listened to & movies & TV shows I've never watched. I have every hope of remedying that someday, but probably it won't happen till the human lifespan is doubled at the very least.

This past weekend I finished out two series I've been looking for one issue each for several years. Finally found the 1st issue of the two issue History of the DC Universe from right after COIE. Well done, a good read. On the other hand, I finally found the 11th issue of Freedom Fighters, which completes the 15 issue run, but as a story, it was kind of lame. Oh well, at least I won't be looking for it anymore.

I am a bit of a compulsive completist as well. If I get an issue or two of a new series, I almost feel I have to get the whole series. I am getting better about deciding I don't need all of some series, but the best defense for me is to make sure I don't get books from new series unless I'm pretty sure I'll really like it. There are enough series that I'm already working on that there's no real shortage of books to get as it is, so I can generally resist getting new titles.
As for reading everything, I am certainly working on it. I'd estimate I have ~800 unread books, out of my collection of ~14,600, so that's only a bit over 5% unread. I'm making progress on bringing that down right now, but that will only last until the next sale or convention, when I'll buy a new stack or two to add to the ranks of the unread.

I saw an advertisement for Eerie Publications reprints I think in a recent Yoe comic. I looked them up online and immediately wanted to buy some. Apparently they're not good. They look super cool though. Eventually I'll give a few a try, maybe I'll buy the reprint book I saw

I have quite a large stack of unread comics. I would love to read them all, maybe some day I will. I'd say I have over a thousand unread comics.

For me, it's probably more like 10,000 unread. Quite possibly far more than that.

Is that Eerie Publications reprint collection out yet? It's on my Amazon wishlist, but last I noticed it was still listed as forthcoming.
An earlier one came out a few years ago. Can't remember the title, but I own it. Certain of those stories played a major role in warping my developing mind back in the days of yore, dating back to the tender age of 7.

The Eerie Publications magazines were lurid, garish and ugly. Some people like that, some don't. I actually haven't seen one in decades, so it might appeal to me more now than it did then.
And collecting all of a series if I liked one or two issues was just not in the cards back in the 60s & 70s, when I was reading series like Strange Tales that started in 1951, or the DC books that had been going since the 30s. My completist mania was focused on getting all of the books coming out right then. Back issues were a different kettle of fish.

For me, it's probably more like 10,000 unread. Quite possibly far more than that. Since Derek Jeter is retiring, the six hours a week you spent bashing him for the last two decades can now be used to read your unread comics.

I've actually been bashing him only since Yankees fans started gushing embarrassingly over him, so ... yeah, two decades, I guess.
Nah. Hardly that long. Only reason I never had him on any of my fantasy teams is pure happenstance. In his heyday he was a really nice SS from a fantasy standpoint, especially in leagues (i.e. any & all that aren't run by lunatics) that don't count defensive stats, but for whatever reason I was never one to draft middle infielders early in building a roster. Accordingly, I never had him, A-Rod (till a few years ago when he was a 3B; that pick was, shall we say, not a glowing succes), Nomar, Tejada in his prime, etc.

Just in case anyone ever doubted that you know Kurt IRL.

For me, it's probably more like 10,000 unread. Quite possibly far more than that. I used to have far more unread comics too. I got rid of probably ten longboxes just of X-Men related stuff. Of which I had read maybe 100 issues. As far as the Eerie Publications HC, I don't think it's out yet. It was within the past week or two I saw the advert I think. I'll have to look into it. If it is a Yoe hardcover I've found them to be really good values though. I only have the Zombie one, but I was not let down at all.
