I've heard that the reason the Star Trek TV series ('Star Trek: Phase II') planned for the late 1970's got upgraded to film is due to the success of Star Wars. Not sure if the series would have been better - I don't think Leonard Nimoy was planning to be involved and Shatner might have been iffy so it doesn't sound like it - but it does make me wonder what producers took a chance on that they otherwise wouldn't have without Star Wars. It was the right decision to not to make the series and instead they made a series of films starting with Star Trek the Motion Pictures in 1979. I prefer films than another series - I heard of Star Trek: Phase II and if it was launched it would started in 1976 or 1977 and proceed from there. The Film Series were good and steady and gave new life to the careers of Shatner, Nimoy, and others.

I haven't seen the movie but this was brilliant. This was life-changing.

Like, I want to organize a group of friends to quote lines from this video at:
"Your family at breakfast... with something unfamiliar behind their eyes."
"Huge! Gracious! Powerful!"
"I don't know how I feel about it that the Porg that looks most like it's planning something is the only one capable of chasing me."
"Straight up looks like Patton Oswald... and that is a compliment to both of them."
"I'd like to thank the Los Angeles Porg Archives..."
