I want to maintain my weight loss and lose another 15 pounds. I also want my spirit to reach out to more people in this world.

Working through all my books and DVD's and cleaning them out. Buy so many when on sale/discount and such that the pile grows faster than ever. Will sort out and keeping only those things I will most definitely watch/read again and then donate rest to the local library. Many things I will read or watch the one time then it goes on a shelf or in a box just sitting there. Better that someone else can enjoy them and they get some usage than merely collecting dust

Losing another 20 pounds would be fantastic and doing the same thing as brutalis and getting my Condo in order. I got three long boxes of Comics that I need to sort them out and give them to my LCS to figure it out what to do with them. This came to me by surprise when I selmon open a small closet that they were sitting there for a long time.

I want to maintain my weight loss and lose another 15 pounds. I also want my spirit to reach out to more people in this world. Good call. Your body has enough work to do losing those 15 pounds, so better leave the outreach to your spirit. (Sorry, I had to, you set yourself up so perfectly! )

I am trying something a little different this year. Instead of making resolutions, I am trying to be more concrete and making a little more detailed to do list for 2018.
So my initial thought for a resolution was to get more of the house projects done including finishing the comic room upstairs, but that's still vague and easy to rationalize away or ignore. Instead I've made a "to do" list for projects that need done (some lingering from this year, some I want to get to this coming year) that is currently 37 items long and will chip away at the list as the year goes along, making sure I am sticking to what I set out to do instead of going "oh yeah I got a couple things done towards that" in February and forgetting about the resolution as is wont to happen with a lot of people.
I've set up my to do list into categories-house projects is only the first. Others include improving health and lifestyle, another involving hobbies (comics, toys what have you) and a last catchall misc. other. I am still drafting the lists, having only done the house project one so far.
I am much better with concrete to do lists than I am with vague resolutions, so I am giving this a shot and seeing how it goes. Checking things off the list will also give me a sense of progress and positive reinforcement to keep going and not lose focus (at least that's the hope in doing it this way).

@mrp - I had a similar conversation with my daughters yesterday when they asked me what my resolutions were. The only way I am going to get anything done is if I set achievable, measurable, and meaningful goals for myself, as that will give me a way to track my progress and focus on things that are falling behind or that I might not achieve.
Definitely the product of too many years in corporate America, but it works for me.

Hey @mrp, how are you doing health wise? Can you lift comics boxes etc ? I've been working on a 50 lb lifting limit since September (it was 20 lb to start with), but the doc said as of the first of the year (i.e.) tomorrow I can up the limit to 100 lb, but to be careful when lifting and not to overdo it. I have a hernia belt now that I sue at work to give additional support when I have to lift things at work, and the owner has been very accommodating (making the young turks do the heavy lifting for me when needed), so it hasn't been an issue. There have been a few projects around the house I have been putting off until the limit when up, but I have been able to do most everything I needed to do so far. I switched from long boxes to short boxes a few years ago anyways, so that's not an issue, but I am looking at ways to eliminate short boxes as well when I get the room reset. That was part of the reason for the purge earlier this year as I got rid of about a third of the stuff in short boxes. The only lingering effect seems to be energy levels, as I am probably only back to about 80% there. Enough to get by and do the work at my job, but coming home to do house projects after a longer shift at work isn't happening yet, so I pace myself and get by, doing house stuff on days off and days when I only have a short shift, and if I need a day to just rest, well the project will still be there when I am up for it. It's getting better, but like tonight after a long shift on New Year's Eve (our busiest day of the year) I am pretty wiped, so I will have to wait and see what energy levels are like when I get up in the morning to see if it's a project day or a read and watch TV day. It's coming along, slowly but surely, and having to have the kidney stones done twice after the hernia surgery slowed down the energy recovery for sure, but each day is a little better, so I just do what I can until I am able to do more. Appreciate your asking though. -M

I am trying to set very concrete goals this year too. So this year my main goals are getting tid of things that I dont need, which mainly includes lots of old toys. A couple of years ago my parents had their roof/attic renovated so I got all my old toys and stuff which has just been setting around. Its mostly 80s and 90s stuff like transformers which are not extremely expensive but do has some resailability to them.
Healthwise I have a very simply goal: To loose weigh, about 10 KG, and to run more. This last year I ran a 5 Km race with me workplace and my goal is to get a better time this year which means loosing some weigh and train my back more so it does not hurt as much when running.
