Let's saddle up and tally up again on the reading trail for 2018! Year 2 participating January:Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man: 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. You are reading the series the got me started in comics! Love it! There was never a pivotal run on those issues but I feel they were always entertaining. Plus, I love me some Razorback!
Yeah, this was MY SPIDER-MAN comic. All of the other Spidey titles out there had been around for awhile and I had different issues here and there from Amazing to Team-Up to Tales but this was the one where I could be collecting from issue #1 and find issues regularly each month. Not to mention for me it was great to see Sal Buscema on his own title each month and not just filling in everywhere. Add in the Bill Mantlo stories to the mix and I was in heaven. And this title returned the idea of the secondary cast of characters being a part of the series more than just as background filler. A very good mix of classic and new each month. Razorback was insanely stupid to me at the time of his premiere but now he is just so damn cool. Put him and Ulysses Stone Archer as trucking buddies adventuring on the open highways of America and I am there to travel along and read!!! And where do you find a hog head that damn big?!? Mutant piggies in Arkansas?

Will definitely give it a shot this year. JanuaryStar Wars Adventures #2-5 Star Wars: Forces of Destiny: Leia #1 Star Wars: Forces of Destiny: Rey #1 How are these? I didn't pick them up in singles, but the trades are calling me a bit... too little kid-y? The art is a bit cartoony for my tastes, but it seems to match the show, so that's fine.

I read the first little 2 issue trade collection of Star Wars adventures just before New Years and it was a lot of fun. My wife, who is the bigger Star Wars fan but doesn't read many comics anymore, read it and quite liked it too. -M

While they are clearly meant for a younger audience they were certainly enjoyable. They’ve made for much better reading than some of the other SW stuff I’ve been reading lately.

Preliminary totals for January...
83 issues 1254 pages of comics from OGN or comics released in format other than monthly pamphlets, dividing by 20 pages the standard for a monthly comics yields another 63 issues worth of comics 581 pages of comic/pulp related prose at 15 pp/issue (the Shaxper standard) yields another 39 issues worth of material
all together approximately 185 issues worth of material read for the month. I also started, but haven't finished Tolkien's Hobbit in January-I'm about halfway through and unlikely to finish today, so it will be tallied in February.
Highlights include: Simonson's Ragrarok, Lee/Kirby Thor, Coates' Black Panther, Hicks' Nameless City, Ottavani's Bone Sharps, Cowboys and Thunder Lizards, and Yukimura's Vinland Saga.

I read 249 comics in January . That's the most I've ever read in one month due to being home with a busted ankle and binge reading digital comics.

due to being home with a busted ankle and binge reading digital comics. That really sucks, man. How long are you off your feet for? Is work being understanding?

I fell and sprained my ankle the day before I had a vacation week off. I had to call in sick for an additional week to get good enough to work. So all in all, I had 2 weeks to heal a bad sprain. But at least I read a lot of funny books.

I loved it up through book 3, then they took a turn that REALLY annoyed me plot wise.

I only have access to the first two books of the English translation (i.e. the first 4 books as originally released) via my local library, so I am not sure I will read beyond that, but we'll see. -M

Perusing everyone's listings today I am quite happy seeing so much variety in what is being read as well in so many decades being covered by all of us. Variety is the true spice of life and makes for some really great reading material. Gonna have to find me some afternoon time on a weekend for digging into the long boxes so I can read some things I haven't had out in awhile. With so many Essentials/Showcases I tend towards looking to them for quick reads since they are more readily available on the shelves versus opening up the boxes
