There have been many artists since the beginning of four color comic books and there are some that gained more acclaim for having a special skill for rendering the female form. Some have used that skill primarily for covers and others have built a fan following for their interior work. Which are you favorite GOOD GIRL artists/ ? I’ve made an effort to list the professionals that have done classy drawings and not semi-porn. Ed Benes Terry Dodson Al Rio Bob Oskner Joe Lisner Bruce Timm Alex Toth Dan Decarlo Art Adams John Buscema Dave Stevens

Nick Cardy always drew pretty girls, Don Heck too. Dan DeCarlo as well.

I like Joe Lisner very much because he draws lips very nicely and that's one of the reasons that his art appeals to me. Excellent Selections here ...

I am an admirer of the female form and have the utmost respect for artists who can render it convincingly, but come on, guys... Many of the images in this thread are downright porn where a naked girl demurely hides her breasts and crotch to the camera.
Before posting an image, let us remember that a 12-year old little girl who loves superhero comics may one day stumble upon this site, which is meant for all ages. I'd hate her to run away from what she'd perceive as a Comic-Book-Guy dungeon.

That is the list of examples of "classy, not semi-porn" artists?? Perhaps I don't understand how the term is being used in this context, but my idea of "Classy good girl" art would be more along these lines: David Lopez: Paul Smith: John Cassaday: Walt Simonson: Adrian Alphona: Alex Ross: Cameron Stewart:

I'd hate her to run away from what she'd perceive as a Comic-Book-Guy dungeon. I cringe every time I see one of these types of gratuitous wank threads started or bumped up the board again. I know a lot of people here like them and, as long as they don't break the forum rules on nudity or explicit content, I'm fine with people contributing to them. But Good Girl Art is, by its very nature, designed to erotically stimulate male viewers and I tend to think that paints the CCF in an unfavourable light.

I see. From the wikipedia article: "A cover illustration depicting an attractive young woman, usually in skimpy or form-fitting clothing, and designed for erotic stimulation." In that case, "Good Girl Art" appears to be a kind of semi-porn rather than classy.

I did my best to avoid posting mostly naked women as my examples of good girl art. When I get home I will edit some of them that might be thought is as borderline. Believe me, while searching on the internet, it was 90% naked women and I posted the images associated with these particular characters. Nothing I can do about Red Sonja, man. There were even some artists that I liked but omitted because they were mostly naked pieces.

Never heard of Good Girl art before. Kinda glad hoped moved beyond that kind of thing in, in more mainstream comics at least.
